Having become 17 today, obviously adult now , most older gamers just want something fun to do and to get away from life. At least the ones I know. They say there's nothing like getting home from some crappy job, getting chewed at by the wife, sitting down with a beer and playing video games to get away from it all into a fantasy world of orcs, counter terrorists, and SAS ownage.

Like many have said, we arent drawn to the games. The games are deeply embedded in us. We started out a LONG time ago playing **** like Atari, Sega Master Systems, NES, all that even earlier systems as well. Oregon Trail anyone? It has never left, the games have taken insane turns since we started. So its only getting better, and so are we....:nod: The Tribes series is what locked me into online multiplayer FPS, minus Tribes Vengeance(because it sucked a$$, and abandoned all we had known for years, people that played know what i mean). Nothing better than slaying the enemy base along the sides of some good friends from all over the world right? Games rule......FTW:salute:

Eh....PS. The whole adult thing is killing me right now, i am being nagged from all the way across the house "its bad enough you shoot people for hours, now you have to type about it? come shoot me!" oh my, gots to gozors.......... =v) Being adult has some perks, wow speaking of perks i wonder how double tap, and deep impact work together, just kidding, laters.

Thanks for sharing your stories and helping all of us see what has drawn you to gaming. Ya, I suppose your all right in saying that you don't just put down gaming when you get older. I believe that gaming is in your blood and once a gamer always a gamer. Anyway, I always loved gaming, I have spent way to much on it. I think I started gaming when I was around 5-6 years old and have not stopped since then. My first gaming system EVER was a PS1 but know that I have a new gaming computer I have turned more to PC gaming. I use to find satisfaction in playing single player in evry game I had, but as I got older, AI just wasn't cutting it. So I switched to online mode instead of single play.

Well I would really like to keep this thread going because we can discuss anything having to do with gaming culture.

I would say alot and go into detail, but most of these have pretty much covered it. For me Gaming started out with my uncles original pong for the tv set...then atari 2600...and every game system from that point on up to and including a hell of alot of $$$$$ in quarters at the local bowling ally and arcade. Then the advent of the PC when it became availiable <------read affordable hahaha ( intel 386/4865) alot of bbs text based internet play...now at 36 years old here I am playing online games with my children...lmao (never really saw that comming when I was playing pac-man at 13).

But nowadays, kids are kids,adults are adults but we are all bound by a common interest...gaming. :yay:

P.S....anyone here remember playing online pc games over a dialup connection....14400 baud modem...hehehehe

Yea, sadly I started with a Gamecube... yea...

My parents wouldn't let me but anything other than a GameBoy (Had the original) until I was in sixth grade.

I recall playing my friends Super Nintendo's and N64s though, and Sega... The original Sonic was the best ever oldschool video game, that, Super Mario World, and Donkey Kong.

I was playing teh PC games since I was like... 6. I started out with the tycoon games (Railroad Tycoon... Roller Coaster Tycoon... Transport Tycoon), were the best, I think I still even have them in my large collection of game CDs... Oh yea, and all the backyard sports games. =D Those were awesome... especially football.

My first shooter was CoD1 for the Gamecube, it had no multiplayer, just SP, but I must've played it 9-10 times over. Then I got MOH:EA, then I moved onto the 360... (Got it within the first month it was out), and just went crazy from there. Now I'm a lvl 40 in Halo3, and me and my bro rip up CoD4 like its easy, and... I don't even play xbox anymore, the keyboard and mouse keep me here.

PC shooters... I started with Americas Army, best free FPS out there, and then moved onto BF2, and then CS, and I haven't looked back. :P

Saved up $100 from babysitting (don't laugh, it was easy money b1tch!) and bought an original NES. Before that, it was the Commodore 64. Learned to code there too and wrote my first "Hello World" program. You think file sharing and piracy are bad now, you should have seen it in the "sneaker net" days. We were copying floppies faster then a pair of jackrabbits in heat.

From there, it was all console (PC's were just too expensive,) SNES, Genesis, SegaCD, PS1, N64. Then I got back into the PC scene when I built a PC with Voodoo2 SLI. Been a PC gamer ever since.

First ever game was Super Mario on the original gameboy.

First PC game was a shareware version of the the vertically scrolling arcade jet shooter Raptor (what a game!).

First console was the N64 and I got my first FPS with it (Perfect Dark) when I was ten. In my opinion it is still the best console ever made, simply because it is the home of Zelda:OOT.
