Let me explain to you why this is nothing more than a pipe dream. One sentence: "There is no such thing as a free lunch."

It takes money to host a server, even if you're doing it out of your own home: you pay for the internet connection, electricity, and even cooling the heat which the server puts out. By contrast, if you have the server colocated in a datacenter, you pay the datacenter hosting fees, router fees, or whatever else they decide to tack on top of that, not to mention having to pay for the server box itself. For what you are saying to be even feasable, the game developer would need to be able to host servers to house all the players.

To put it simply, this would never, ever happen without jacking the price of games up significantly or forcing players to pay a subscription to play online. Would I ever pay a subscription fee for an online FPS? When hell freezes over, I may consider it.

When I'm the one paying the bills, why should I join the server which I pay my hard earned money for and play in a style which I despise? That makes no sense, and if everything worked this way, no servers for the games outside of the servers the GSPs are required to host would exist. While you may think the people who control the resources to keep those servers operating should not control the way the game is played, there's not a viable alternative.

Absolute socialism failed in the real world; it certainly won't work in a capitalistic game.

Its used in tournaments and is a legit tactic for killing lame walker whores. Its not like i NEED it but really if you make rules against it or think its for "cheap ppl" then your probably not a very good tactical thinker in the first place. REally the only reason that people make rules for servers is to protect bad players from things that they cant "DEAL" with.

I understand what you are saying, I just think its unfortunate that this is the way things are. Its just not right.

Get off your high horse and play by server rules or don't play on the server at all. You came here to ***** about a clan that banned you for not following their rules, and now you're turning this into some farcical debate as to whether the people who PAY for a server are qualified to run it. Get this, all that qualifies you to buy and run your own server is a full wallet and a few spare minutes. That will never change and will never be up for debate, so why bother?

I don't see why you're dragging this out at all. You broke a servers rules, you got banned. If you had a problem with the rules in the first place, why did you play on the server? Server rules are rarely up for debate, what makes YOU so special that you get to go against them? Let me guess... all your gold medals?

You sound like a spoiled brat who's got a bee in his bonnet because he's not got his own way tbh, especially with your comment on gold medals etc. And you clearly at least DID care about being unbanned otherwise you wouldn't have attempted to sign up to NfB forums and you wouldn't have made this utterly pointless thread in this forum either. I did particularly like how you got tetchy once you had your *** handed to you by skates because of your hilarious attempt to play the innocent party "Oh, I entirely forgot that I jihad-jeeped the hell out of a clan member". Thread suddenly migrated from a "Why am I banned I am for the sad " into a "YOUR RULES SUCK BECAUSE I CAN'T KILL A WALKER WITHOUT BREAKING RULES". Maybe you need to re-evaluate your supposed "skill" if you can't deal with that. Also, you might have noticed that you were on a clan server, not a match-server, so who gives a monkeys if in competitive gaming and on ladders that rdx-jeeps are allowed?

Not every server is going to pander to your opinion and views on the game, so get over yourself, keep quiet and enjoy a fun game according to the server rules on which you're playing on like the rest of us. I don't see you paying for a server for anyone elses enjoyment.

Someone should close this thread - he's not getting unbanned from NfB (and to be honest, I don't blame them at all - if he has no respect for the host then he has no place visiting their house) and if rules are the subject of debate, then there's the strange rules thread to go cry a river in.

While I side with Skates here, I also have to bring out a bit of the truth in Field's words...

NfB has every right to make what rules they want on their server... You can't deny that. If you are on a server, you should Honor the rules. Thats already been discussed though, so now on to the part I agree on...

"RDX Ramming" is a completely legit tactic. The logic that you guys use to say that it is "cheap" or a "waste of team assets" is sooooo flawed. What I think a "waste of team assets" is is the 20+ Tickets you will lose by waiting for a bunch of Engies to revolt and take the walker down. I will stick to this position until someone replies to this post.

Agreement with Fingulfin. If you're going to play in somebody else's house you gotta play by their rules. Parents not teach this anymore?

House rules aside, though, RDX Ramming/Jihading doesn't send me into a tizzy. I hate being killed that way, but I hate being killed in ANY way.

I'll ban an RDX bunnyhopper in a split second, though. That IS weaksauce.

What i dont like about RDX bunnyhopping is just the fact that some person is basically exploding bombs on themselves, not getting hurt and killing people on the other team in the same vecinity, its just the realism factor of it. Yeah, you could argue that alot of stuff in the game isnt realistic but whatever.

Lolyn im just stating the facts. With me having about as many golds as you do...I would think that you would understand. But then i would prefer fragging a few extra people over getting a medal most of the time.

Seriously, i dont know why you respond like this. You took the time to read the thread so you were at least slightly interested. its not like im stealing away your time.

yeah anyways Lolyn i guess you are right. Fine fine.

honestly it only takes 20+ tickets to kill a walker when you are not using your commander. last night i took down a walker with ease! all you need to do is talk to your commander tell him to save his emp and orby and as soon as he is ready emp grenade the walker long enough for the emp and orby to destroy him!!!! easy as counting to 3. you can take out any walker whore using that method. i can proudly say im apart of =NfB= and have learned from the best to use this tactic which makes me look more skilled then some 1 who jihads a walker

Similar amounts of gold medals do not equate to similar views on gameplay, and that's a silly thing to assume. I follow server rules and make an effort NOT to get banned - and any server that I have been banned from I go to the appropriate channels to get the issue cleared. I don't find myself whining on external forums and getting my posterior handed back to me in several hues of blue. I responded like that because I take a particular dislike to gamers who consider themselves above server laws because their egos have been over-inflated by statistics.

And no, you're not stealing away my time, since I have lots of it, but I'll happily use my time to freely vent my verbal rheum. Yes, I am right, and I love it.

                        So basically your saying.

""""You can do (whatever tactic). I did this. I did that. Its easy. I did that (1) time. It takes more skill."""""""

I could say that i went 78-6 walker whoring in 50 person camp Gibraltar one time. (cause i did) and say: "dude all you have to do is ask your commander for supply boxes, spot enemies and then shoot enemies from a distance so they cant emp nade/ RDX you.

NOTHING...ALLLLWAYS works in given situations and with different people. You could use the emp nade tactic on one walker and then have it be unsuccessful with another whos pilot is smarter, moves around and is more tactical as to avoid emp nades, which you would then use a car bomb, which is much harder to avoid.:|:

actually you need to change that 1 because i have done this several times nothing compared to hippy but ya. all im saying is jihading just shows you either suck at teamwork or are not slick enough to charge a walker and rdx him. maybe your not as good as you think you are since you take the easy way out.

I just find it odd that being a fellow player thats experienced with the game and plays well (looked at your stats) it doesnt bug you at all that the irrational rules that are put onto servers were implemented by people that may not know the game as well as you but they just have money so it doesnt matter.

and then you dont really understand my post. your response is the only thing that i have read that has actually irritated me so far.

the only way you are going to charge a walker on foot with rdx is if the pilot is too dumb to notice you or he is being emp naded so he cant move, which is just a branch off from what you already told me with emp nade+emp/orb strike.

I love jihad jeeping (when I'm in a bad mood, cheers me up right away ), but if a server bans it, I will gladly comply and take out armor the "usual" way.
