What is the best gun of each category (in your opinion)
I love the DE, cause with Bandolier and Deep Impact it owns everything, ofcourse, you cant outsnipe othe guys, but you will fastly get to them to kill them, cause they cant outpistol you :)
AR - Have to say either the AK or the M4 with RDS
SMG - Not an SMG fan but I would go with the P90 (So it's a n00b gun, its still the best SMG :P)
LMG - RPD hands Down Grip + SP + DI = Oh my god shot through the wall!
Shotties - Auto one, got a 38 kill streak with it so yea :yay:
Sniper - M40A3, it goes where you put it! It works! :yay::yay::yay:
It completely depends on the map. I personally dont take sniper rifles into Vacant, or SMGs into Crossfire. As a general rule, Assault rifles work best for most situations though.
I voted Assault Rifles, but I think every weapon has it's pros and cons.
Some sub machine guns such as the MP5 have high damage ratings, as well as decent Distance and Accuracy ratings, and in my opinion, can be just as effective as the M16 or G36C.
I'm not too crazy about Light Machine guns. I'm kind of OCD about keeping a full magazine, and the reload time for those weapons is simply too long for my tastes, however out of the 3 available on CoD4, the RPD would be my light machine gun of choice.
Shotguns are excellent weapons to use in the right map. However out of the two options available, I only use the M1014. I never play Showdown without it. My highest kill number for Showdown, on a 10 minute timer, with 14 players, was 66! That was all using the M1014.
I'm not much of a sniper. I'll use one if I'm in the mood, but I usually stick to assault rifles to make the long-distance shots.
M14 without SP is a two shot headshot, with SP it is one. SP on the M14 is far from useless.
Headshots, sure. The question is, does your accuracy justify the use of S.P. when another, more beneficial perk could be used in its place? Remember that for most people, headshots are a 10% affair. Do you really wish to replace a more useful perk for this 1 in 10 chance of making a one-hit kill? Logically, it's not the correct decision to make.
Assault: M4 with RDS or Grenade Launcher. Good all-round. The Stopping Power or Double Tap perks compensate for its lack of power.
LMG: M60E4 with RDS. Very powerful but somewhat inaccurate. Use bursts and crouched/prone position to improve accuracy. (Unlike the SAW, I haven't used the RPD that much. And after looking at the other reviews, I think I may be missing out.)
SMG: P90 with RDS or Silencer. Kinda weak but its large magazine capacity makes up for it, even while using the Double Tap perk.
Shotgun: The semi-auto shotgun with grip (not the W1200 pump action) shoots faster. The 4 round clip can be balanced with Sleight of Hand perk.
Sniper Rifle: Dragunov with default scope. It's very accurate (accurate enough to compensate for its low power with constant head-shots), is semi-auto, and makes a lot less noise than other semi-auto rifles. *Cough... barret cough*
Pistol: Desert Eagle .50 It can't be silenced, but it's a freaking cannon compared to the other pistols.
