What is the best gun of each category (in your opinion)

M14 without SP is a two shot headshot, with SP it is one. SP on the M14 is far from useless.

Headshots, sure. The question is, does your accuracy justify the use of S.P. when another, more beneficial perk could be used in its place? Remember that for most people, headshots are a 10% affair. Do you really wish to replace a more useful perk for this 1 in 10 chance of making a one-hit kill? Logically, it's not the correct decision to make.

It might be because I was playing around with it in Hardcore mode, where it is stronger, it seemed to be one shot kill all the time, and I was having quite a bit of fun

I haven't played with it in normal mode yet, my rank isn't high enough

Yes, it was. We're discussing the use of Stopping Power in Softcore... practically no weapon requires that perk in Hardcore mode. :)
