M4A1 is uncomfortable, G36C beats it, but with a RIS gear and vertical front grip, M4A1 is one of the most comfortable combinations ever, except for a MP5 combination with an open reflex sight...

    oh wait...

Anyway, I went back from G36C to M4A1 a long time ago and the results are definitely obvious. The sway is only client side, and is something you definitely get used to, so it becomes a non-issue. M4A1 is like a rail cannon that spits bullets like a minigun. Theres no reason to choose G36C over it unless you like the looks.

      m4 > g36c

The power is low on both, however due to the lack of bad recoil and good RoF M4 wins for me.

G36 is more precise, but m4 can stick more bullets on a man quicker.

Cant beleive anybody chooses either of these with a silencer - both pee shooters with it iMHO.

The G36C's only notch above the M4 is that its sway is noticeably less in irons, red dot, and ACOG. Otherwise, they do the same damage, the M4 has a higher cyclic rate, has less recoil, and has less obstructive iron sights.

          Higher cyclic rate?

It's 13.33 vs 12.5! In other words, there's hardly any difference...

The one thing you have to be careful for with the G is burst firing. I compared my performance with both guns and they were par, except for one very important thing: the G doesn't sway, and to quote the new Joker, "I like that."

            normal: m4 > g36c

            hardcore: g36 > m4

            the g36c is pathetic in normal mode, its like;

            g36c: hey some one clicked
            me: shoot dam it
g36c: oh yeh duh i think that means fire
me: ffs kill you piece of crap
            g36c: bang, bang

you have been killed by XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

on hardcore though, i dont know why but its just amazing, i love it. i think its because you only need 2-3 bullets to hit and its accuracy is nice. plus you can take uav jammer because stopping power isnt so important and surprise people, you also can take rds since you dont need a silencer.

              1) Theres a ~9% difference in cycling rate, and that is a substantial difference.
              2) M4A1 is more accurate in full automatic fire, at long distanced aswell, hence why I call it the "rail gun"
              3) Sway is purely client side, it has no effect on accuracy. Sway in automatic fire becomes a non-factor if youre not blinded by muzzle flash
Sway in COD4 is also pathetic, as recoil management is a joke of a work. Try firing automatic rifles in SWAT4, where recoil control takes serious skill and is a separate art (which may be makes sway a non-factor for me).

To finish this- if youre using the G36C, youre hurting only yourself.

1- 13.33 vs 12.5 per second. A 9% difference is negligible... laughable, even. It's all in your head :)

2- At distance in full spray, perhaps. If you shoot controlled bursts, the G36 is superior. I'm not disagreeing that it's a lot easier for people who just want to hold the LM button to use the M4. That's a given.

3- It may be client side, but it's still universally annoying and therefore another reason to favor the G over the 4 if you can control the bursts of the former.

Based on my testing with the same kits, I didn't hurt myself. It depends on your playing style, I suppose.

Of all the guns I had to use to get my golden AK, 150 headshots with the G36 was the worst. You can't play it like an M4 because it doesn't have to rate of fire to compete. You can't play it like an AK or MP44 because it doesn't have the power. It's not good at anything at all, except frustrating me.

Your calculation appears to be wrong. Thats 12.5 and 14.33, to match the fire time 0.07 and 0.08, which in turn matches ROF of 750 and 857 (or 850/860, you choose). This means, for every 6 bullets you fire, I fire 7.

Its not just "in my head", the difference in ROF is substantial, and is easily recognizable without even stats. You might say the same about M1200 and M1014, where you somewhat balance M1200 to have a similar ROF, and on paper, they may look somewhat comparable, but in practice they are completely different. Same for M4A1 and G36C, practice shows substantial difference while you could say 9% is "negligible" (whereas 9% is negligible only as a lie for arguments sake).

2- At distance in full spray, perhaps. If you shoot controlled bursts, the G36 is superior. I'm not disagreeing that it's a lot easier for people who just want to hold the LM button to use the M4. That's a given.
If you shoot controlled bursts, M4A1 is superior.

                      A) Its not difficult to control recoil nor sway, and in firing, sway has absolutely no effect. You might say sway only has an effect on your first shot, and even then only because youre unable to control it.

                      B) M4A1 has a much tighter grouping at range, using any sights, at not only full auto, but you can transfer this into bursts aswell. They are only equal in single shots where pretty much every weapon hits dead on.

Disclaimer, this is where stats disagree with me putting both of these weapons up as equals (at least according to ECP) when it comes to deviation.

Then again, using sights, ECP tells us that sights kick around more for G36C, than they do for M4A1.

3- It may be client side, but it's still universally annoying and therefore another reason to favor the G over the 4 if you can control the bursts of the former.
I dont want to brag, boast, or sound like an a-hole, but its only annoying if you lack the skill. Sway in COD4 is a nonfactor, and has no effect on accuracy. Its up to you to control it, which you can very well. As I said, recoil and sway management in COD4 is a joke, its easier than picking up desperate fat chicks.

Based on my testing with the same kits, I didn't hurt myself. It depends on your playing style, I suppose.
People use M4A1 for a reason. I improved significantly after ditching G36C, even though I improved significantly after switching TO G36C at the beginning.

The only realistic reason to choose G36C over M4A1 are these

                      A) G has a faster reload rate
                      B) Due to M4A1 burning through ammo faster, if youre lucky, you might force the opposition into reload faster while having still a few rounds left. This case was quite common when I played.

I really don't have the time nor the desire to get into an e-peen contest over which is better. The ****in' data is right there in front of you guys: 12 vs 13. The ROF may sound more impressive on the M4 due to the sound byte they use, but in practice, they'll both empty the mag in two and a half seconds.

It's only a question of whether or not you wish to burst fire, and whether or not you can tolerate sway. Everything else is the same. In other words, it comes down to personal preference and aesthetics.

                          Its not 12 vs 13 its 12 vs 14.

M4 empties a mag in 2.01 seconds while the G36C empties a mag in 2.4 seconds.

The main point is that the difference is very obvious to a lot of people and all you have got is sway, which is controllable. Sway, for many, does not balance out the gain in ROF and through that, DPS. In simple terms, that one extra bullet is all you need, and that extra bullet comes from the 6th shot.

EDIT: You know Im awesome, admit it. Also, remember it was you who said that G36C sucks and has no advantages over M4A1, just a mere 3 weeks ago in another thread :P

The G36 takes a little longer to get familiar with, but once you've tamed it, the M4 takes a backseat. I've learned from my mistake, perhaps you should learn from yours.

Edit: It also depends on your style. If you're always running around like a chicken without a head, I can see the use of going crazy with an M4. I'm more calculated and "flanky", so burst shots on unexpecting people is par for my course.

Like I said above, personal preference and playing style.

I started with the M4A1, advanced with the G36C, chose AK47 and finally, after every assault rifle had been tried, I chose AK47 and M4A1 and ditched G36C from my menu completely. Being able to call myself an "average" player with 50 hours of experience, going back to M4A1 amused me. Since basically Im back where I started.

Im a dynamic player, I change play style whenever tactical situation changes. As such, I need the rifle that is the best all-around. G36C isnt it.
