Btw, Opfor are also U.S. soldiers if I'm not mistaken, they only represent enemies for training. People seem to think that they're terrorists and the fact that they speak arabian in the game probably adds to the confusion, but it's complete bollocks.

i suppose the location of the server would have something to do with it.

Cammo though i dont think makes that much of a difference for example on overgrown i think that the spetznas have better cammo for hiding in bushes and stuff while the sas stick out a mile in their black. Yet on wetwork the sas would have the advangtege. I dont think that many (there are some obviously as some have posted in this thread) that will pick just or the clothes.

I auto assign when i play, plus i use all the AK based weapons (47, 74 and RPD) so playing as the Opfor or Spetznaz just makes it look right. Dont get me wrong im British and love being the SAS but i really don't mind.

I agree on the part new/crappy players pick marines. In my pub experience with SAS/Spetsnaz it's usually even distribution among skill levels but when it's opfor vs marines, in 3 out of 4 cases the marine team is getting slaughtered by opfor.

About camo - Marines have better camo on some maps (Ambush, Crash) while Opfor have it better on others (District, Bog). SAS are good at camo because they are the only team with 2 different outfits, for example on shipment they just blend in far better then spetsnaz, but to be honest I wasn't killed more then a few times thanks to that factor.

I always go SAS or Marines, why you ask? Simply becouse they have better uniforms that blend in with the map, unlike the red glowing ragheads that just say Shoot me SHOOT ME PLEASE SHOOT ME! My point is that the uniforms are to easy to be seen especially the red turbans.

I agree that the Marine camo is an advantage and the black helmets cause me much heartache on the other side.

I almost always go OpFor. I've played the OpFor side in tourneys for years now and it's second nature (plus they win more often in MP games).

The US Army unit I was in was "OpFor" in a number of large-scale exercises, so it's not much of a stretch for me to "shoot at the good guys". It's simply a part of wargaming in RL and on the computer.
