According to xfire.com, CoD4 is only 2nd by a hair to WoW in minutes played.

6 times as much as BF2, 3 times as much as CS:S. There are plenty of players and there will be for a long time. CoD2 is still 3rd on the list.

Yeah, I don't see COD4 dieing for a very long time, maybe not as long as BF2 if these maps stay small, but the mod tools will be sure to change that with custom maps..etc

Also, theres more competitive play in COD4 than say BF2, lots more fun in my opinion.

You also need to take into the notion that regardless of BF3's release, some will not buy it because it's an EA Game.

I think I know what you mean... the game has an excellent feel and it's generally a lot of fun to play, but you get your fill quite easily and need to take a break or play something else.

The game should be able to last as long as COD2, should there be some more mods of interest.

The customizable classes should add to the flavor as well.

That pretty much sums it up.

All I know is that it took 1000 hours for BF2 icon clicking to become a chore, same for SWAT4 and COD4 managed to reach that state with less than 48 hours.

For all intents and purposes, Ive fully explored the game, all gamemodes, all weapons, all maps. Playing is fun, but its nowhere near as attractive anymore.

Well i have clocked up 150 hours of CoD4 play so far and im loving it, going for all the weapon challenges has really made me enjoy the game more.
