It's a n00b's game. Not even that, actually. It's retarded at best. It sucks, FAILDs, lost. Straight from Game-Monitor.com at time of post:Originally posted by BioGlockI feel that 2142 is more balanced than bf2 with combat, just seems more fun too.
BF2 - Total Players/Max: 12,287 / 139,210 (8.83%)
BF2142 - Total Players/Max: 5,001 / 46,264 (10.81%)
While you could argue 2142 has more of a percentage, the numbers just plain suck.
With a faulty gun. Can't even say it's arcade play. Don't get me started on the vehicles.
So? People don't care about how much the bullet hurts. Just because your paintball looks cool, doesn't make it better than the pellet gun. BF2's pellet gun can actually kill, has better accuracy, and strikes fear into the heart of it's enemies.Comment

Dude you don't know what you are talking about with 2142. It IS in fact more balanced and the guns ARE more deadly. The community is more noobish on the whole I'll give you that, but you are just ranting about how BF2 is better when you don't know what you are talking about. Bf2 has 2142 beat by far in some other categories, but not those.Comment

Nope, I gotta go with BF2 unpatched (or one of the really early patches) all the way! The earlier versions of BF2 felt more arcadey and thus IMO a lot more fun. Now everything's all nerfed, restrictions have been added, and all that other crap. I think I'm going to install the BF2 demo again (24/7 unmolested Oman FTW) and have a blast.Comment

Advantages of unpatched BF2
More fluid infantry play.
Blackhawk!
Little J-10 imbalance.
No ranked servers.
More hydras on helicopters.
Improved FPS, on my machine anyway.
Disadvantages of unpatched BF2
No ranked servers.
No support for larger resolutions.
Retarded AA missiles.
Less servers.
Less players.
No I/O option.
No wake or tampa.Comment

Wtf are you on drugs? The lack of IO is a GOOD thing as IO totally ****ed BF2Advantages of unpatched BF2

While many pilots feel, that the ATA missiles are screwed and bad now, I now, today, disagree. ATA missiles, with their 100% hit capability is a godsend. Unfortunately for us, DICE doesnt know how to do their job and left us with severely inbalanced missiles. Any missile system, which is better than 1.0 would have been better. I could dance around F35Bs all day long, even around 2 of them, in MiG-29, J10. Frequent visits back to Demo show that.
What really should have been needed, was a fix I proposed more than a year ago. A series of tweaks to missile system, which rewarded a successful missile shot-off with a 100% impact if there were no flares, but rewarded a ton of skills from the pilot in order to get the missile shot off. I even made the tweaks and was working on kind of a "radar locked missiles" system, but somewhere down the road dropped it. "Radar" missiles would have worked similarily like LGMs on bombers, where you needed to keep the target in your crosshairs (or lock-on cone), in order for the missile to track the target. If the target escaped your lock-on cone, the missile became a dud.
1.0 had a few gameplay balance issues, but only a few of them. The most severe problems that needed patching, were the building glitches and server crashes. Part of why I stopped playing BF2 for a long time, was because of with new patches, I lost my FPS count from 50 to 25. Thats a serious loss.Comment

IO is, and always will be, an option. Meaning you don't have to play it if it's not your cup of tea.
I for one prefer to have more options to choose from when playing a game. I see people moaning about the lack of game modes which EA has provided us with, when IO is in effect a different game mode in itself.
Don't like it? Don't play it. It certainly didn't mess up BF2 with vehicles. If anything, it helped it because it drew away the idiots.Comment

IO damages BF2 by draining players from full vBF2 servers into IO servers. We, who bought BF2 for what it was made to deliver, are suffering, by having fewer servers to choose from. Its a harmful option.
Maybe you dont remember all the crying the infantry grunts did before IO came along.
"Waaaah, tank is too strong, my favourite kit is support!" et cetera...
Catering to the vocal minority ate my FPS, so to speak.Comment

There are still ranked servers playing, dont ask me how, but there are.
Personally i think all the way through to the latest patch has blown, i keep trying to come up with why i still want to play BF2 and im quickly running out of idea's. Those vehicles better keep bringing the fun because the game play and community has drowned my fire to play.Comment

That is an amazing idea. But with today's insane turn radiuses you'd have to make jets a lot harder to turn, otherwise it would practically be impossible to be able to fire any missiles. What really should have been needed, was a fix I proposed more than a year ago.
