The ACOG in the game has nothing to do with them in real life.

I know, as I own a TA33R-8 Acog for my AR-15, as well as several "Red Dot" sights from Aimpoint.

It improves both accuracy AND range over the Red Dot. Especially since most RedDot's are 2/4/8 MOA.

In addition, I do NOT shoot the ACOG with "one eye closed", and in fact, that is a major benefit of the system over a traditional scope.

I accurate use the M16 with ironsights for my "sniper" in the game lately :-)

The only weapon so far that I like to use with the ACOG is the G3.
I have recently unlocked it for the M-14, but I am thinking of removing it again, or at least have one with Red Dot available too.
It jumps all over the place when firing

It depends. If you are using an assault rifle you could use either. But if you use a sub-machine gun you really only need the reflex scope (aka "red dot scope"). If you use a light machine gun, use the reflex scope. And for shotguns, that should be a given. Due to the wide blast of a shotgun, the reflex scope will give you better shot placement without blocking some of your vision. If you use a sniper rifle... you only have two choices. Use the default sniper scope, or the ACOG scope.

          Hope this helps,
          Sgt. Clayton

red dot no questions for anything but a sniper rifle

ill use a acog on an m21 or a barret,
other than that, scope makes ur guns just way too inaccurate

                  • Red Dot: No Effect

I have no idea why they think the ACOG should decrease accuracy, that seems counter-intuitive

The G3 is the only weapon where I use ACOG, the rest are Red Dot or silencer.
It's not less accurate, I use the ACOG on alot of guns.

The reason they say it's innacurate is the sway, but if you get to know the ACOG it can be very mean at long range. Especially when you can't tell if that round shape is an enemy helmet or something else.

                  LOL at the Screenshots!!!!!

Well I don't notice any difference either, but the Create A Class screen says that it reduces some stats.

Reduced accuracy and increased range for the M14

And reduced range for the M21

What I just got through saying is that the 'sway' is considered to make it less accurate. But you can compensate and this will no longer be a problem.

The result is a rediculously accurate M14 Sniper Rifle with 20 rounds instead of 10 in the M21.

M21 does more damage than M14.

I prefer the reflex sight over the ACOG. First, there's much less sway. And second, I have much more visibility with the reflex sight.

yay someone who understands that those bars aren't facts! It's just the sway making it say it's less accurate...

Personally, I use reflex on all but the G36C, since that gun has almost no ACOG sway for seemingly no reason. It's how an ACOG should be.
