Yes but the thing you have to understand about the EA rules are: no one cares, apart from those who dislike knife servers. They dont have a way of effectively dissuading people from going on knife servers, as the stat reset seems to happen to every 1 in 100 people who use them and just because EA says it is so, doesnt mean it is.

If someone likes a small part of the game above all others, so what? some people voss whore, some people only play recon, some people whore the gunship, i dont see how 'its a small fraction of the gameplay' is an argument against anything.

I understand what you are saying. I know they exist. I know people like to play them. I like conquest and Camp G much more than a couple of guys I work with who also play 2142. For them it's titan and Suez. To each his own. My only point is the server owners with server specializing in K/P should not be kicking those who want to come have "fun" at their expense. Kicking is against EA rules and I would gladly report the servers that do this. The ONE K/P server I have been on did NOT kick me for using the Clark. I can respect that and therefore have not gone back.

Maybe not, but EA sure has a way of dissuading GSP's from permitting the K/P servers. They delist the PRIMARY IP of the box running the K/P server, so if it's a shared box, ALL clients runnning ranked 2142 servers will find their servers unable to run. So, it's sorta been left up to the GSP's to police their own servers.

I do tech support for Wolf Servers and I have seen a number of tickets come in when an IP gets delisted (It causes the servers not to start). We also have a thread in the admins forum at Wolf Servers that lists servers that Wolf Servers suspends due to K/P. Wolf Servers suspends the server and they wait for the server admin to put in a ticket asking why it's suspended. Repeat offenders get their service terminated with no refund. When you start messing with the GSP's revenue by running K/P servers, you know damn well they're going to be on top of it.

Honestly this whole situation is stupid on so many levels. I think I'm going to have to pick a game to play next which doesnt have a stat system, or at least a company which doesnt retain too much of a hold on a game once its realeased. I could always go back to playing css i suppose, i used to be pretty good at it. Having a knife only map once in a while on css was fun.

I don't know HOW MUCH they care. However, there have been more than a few stories around here by people who have had their stats wiped for going on K/P servers and more than a few server owners who have had their servers "rank" taken away. So, apparently they do care sometimes.

Why would you ruin knife servers..? Its useless and the will get whiped out so why you would make time for it:P Just NEVER go on it. Just go on with your life:P The will feel the pain of a reset soon or later..
