Thanks for the video Morgan I do agree that it almost looked better then, but the gameplay now is also great.

Although I wonder why they changed the missile silos, they look awesome.

Something about the missiles blowing up because they clipped the silos or something. Here's all the things they seemed to take out:

          -Armor-piercing bullets
          -CTF mode
          -Titans dropping mechs and whatnot
          -The cool titan damage meter
-The clicky sound at the end of intercom messages.
          -Cool weapon sounds

They seemed to just dumb it all down for the sake of "fairness" in gameplay.

Personally I think they didn't take the concept of the game far enough. I'm not saying they should bring in laser guns and stuff, but it's far into the future and they could have done it better.

Like gravity cushions instead of parachutes, now that would have been cool.

BF isn't made as SP games but it would be cool to see a campaign as well together with the best multiplayer games ever made.
Qft, I love futuristic shooters because they aren't bogged down by the need for realism in weapons & tools. They should make another futuristic FPS on the frostbite engine, battlefield, but not the same thing as 2142.

I would have been playing 2142 a lot longer if they had more cool stuff like that in it.

A little uneveness is fine, if not for the rank system. They should just take the whole ranking thing out, I mean who buys a game just for a ranking? I know I could give a flying fu*k about what global rank I am. Gameplay comes first.

With BF2142 I get absolutely no sense of being in a war, being a soldier, etc. Like some reviewers said about the first BF, it is a kindergarden depiction of a war. But even the first one was more mature than the latest two imho.
It a matter of taste, most single player FPS manage to give a better feeling of being in war, but that is usually because of heavy scripting.
I cant think of a multiplayer game that does it better and is still fun to play.
I tried Americas Army for a while, but it got far to linear.

I don't know exactly what they mean with armour piercing bullets.
I like how you can use cover, and guns are mostly useless against armour.

That would make very little difference to the gameplay

Good, because that should be their first and foremost concern

In the video, the guy was able to fend off a gunship simply with an assault rifle. Also, you can clearly see him shooting at a mech, obviously with the intent of doing some damage.

Secondly, those things in your second quote of me would make me and many others like the game a lot more.

Thirdly - the overly-balanced system is crappy because in a real war, nothing is all balanced and crap.

Also, it would be cool if you could deflect the EMP missiles, or maybe temporarily disable the shields with an EMP charge. Or if actual weapons could do damage to the hull, other than the missiles.

Americas Army is a realistic version of CS, which I like a lot.
Games like RO, ArmA give a very good feeling of being in a war, right from the moment you enter a server, and those games aren`t scripted at all. I love both of em.

                    And BF2142 dosn't.

You join a server, and race to all the vehicles and some people get a bunch of APCs and maraude around the map, also, I think I have an idea for how some of these maps could be better. First of all, I think it would be cooler to use the chrome-ish insignias:

Now, here's how the map layouts could be more "Realistic."

It makes more sense for Belgrade to be assaulted from that position, with the city under the control of the EU. If the EU and PAC were at war for four months by Belgrade, it's likely the army would fortify the cold corpses of the European cities.

It makes more sense with this configuration. There's a large open area in the north of the map, and it fits the description of the map.

It makes sense for the PAC to land at that area of land. Perhaps that can be a 64 player version, since there is none for some reason.

Dosn't it make more sense for them to assault by air from the glacier? In the opening video, for some reason, the EU are assaulting from the glacier, which dosn't make much sense, but generally you get the point, right?

That is because "Real War" is not a game.
Very few wants to play the part of the underdog, just look how quickly servers empty when one side dominates.

Well, give each team their own advantage.

For example, in that redrawing of Belgrade I made, give the PAC walkers and everything, but give the EU a lot of those big Anti-Vehicle rail guns. That way, each team will be balanced in it's own way.

I don't like how both team's weapons are balanced exactly alike and everything.

I mean, a BETTER carbon copy with more cool features. Hearts of Iron 2 is a "carbon copy" of Hearts of Iron, but with better graphics and more features.

Only if EA didn't do it. How 'bout we all chip in and buy DICE back from EA!

                                Will $1 do?

I'd love to see an enchanced version of 2142 but I can never really see it be done... EA is too greedy for money...
