It's quite likely that COD5 might be a console-only sequel by Treyarch to COD3, so that's not so far-fetched.

This is just a marketing/PR move to help promote the Activision/Vivendi thing, and capitalize on the current buzz about COD4. It took IW 2 yrs to make COD4, and it's doubtful that they'll crank out a sequel so quickly.

And with the current success/buzz about COD4, it's likely that a lot of people are Googling for information, and if they see COD5, that will start getting them thinking about that. It's kind of cheesy, but a good marketing/PR move.

I remember a long time ago there was an article about CoD5 rumors(don't ask why it wasn't about CoD4). I think the article said that CoD5 would take place in modern era but takes place in America... Foreign invaders taking over America? That would be good, just like World in Conflict but in first person shooter...

I would argue the opposite. I bought the game a couple of days ago and seeing this really disheartened me. It would be a shame if my money only lasted for 6mo. before the game was replaced. Unless some more info comes out I honestly think that this could drive away many potential customers. At $50+ per game no one wants their favorite to be replaced shortly.

odds are it's going to be a console only game, not made by IW, and it's not odd at all to announce something like this right after COD4 came out, look at what they did with Bad Company, that was announced two months after 2142 came out and no one was really upset, it was console only.
