I never implied they should have rushed the game but when a dev spends that long making a game and you get a poor excuse for an SP its pretty sad, unless they spent all their time playing WoW or something

I have played both BF2 and 2142 for some time, I am competent at both and I thought to begin with stats were a good idea, time shows that they are not...I have also always said on these forums that stat systems can work alongside games if done properly...

And whats to say I don't find those flaws in the BF series? You're lucky if the actual engine or game executes half the time, there are terrible connection issues and there are times in BF that make me want to throw my PC out of the window but the gameplay formula is still one of the best out there...

And posting a youtube link...juvenile comes to mind, I hope i haven't hurt your feelings by insulting you're beloved game

Alright, let's not let this thread turn south...

Anyway, all games aren't dead, but several new games have shown lower than expected sales and players. QW was touted as being huge (and is fun to play) but the player to server ration is pretty much 1:1. But at the same time, COD4 has a massive number of players, so who knows.

I think it is harder to create a new, successful franchise on the PC platform, for instance you got CSS etc and MMORPG games and well established titles that have ran for a long time, so its hard and risky to spend a lot of money on making a game when theres a chance it won't do that much good.

EA for example were safe in the knowledge that if they made BF2 crap loads of people would buy it, but then you take a game like Frontlines and its a bit riskier, DC enthusiasts etc are people most likely to buy it straight out...potentially

However on a console platform you can do both, people wet themselves over new Xbox and PS3 games

Some games don't die for a long time (for now). Starcraft is one of them. Even with C&C series, World in Conflict, Company of Heroes etc leading the RTS recently, there's significant number of people who still play much older games. Though that's just a random example.

COD4 has got to be the BEST game out right now. It was my 1st time playin COD before and I love it. The SP (on hard) was awesome! Some lvls pissed me off tho (lol). The MP is GREAT FUN! And even BETTER with your buds on TS. I am playin on low I think and it is wonderful! Overgrown is just b-e-a-uutiful! I will admit that MP will get me really pissed cause I am having trouble finding "my gun". If you don't like COD4 then you havn't played it or you're gettin beat so badly you just say crap about it cause u just suck.

I didnt like it, great graphics no doubt, but the game was boring to me also.
i played the demo, and im not gonna buy the game to see if its more fun, how dumb! if the demo doesnt do me any good im not spending 50buks:shakehead

I didn't like COD4 very much when I tried the SP(played the first 3 or 4 levels at my uncle's house) but I haven't played the MP. The game really disappointed me when I found out it didn't have destructible environments. It seems to me that the game was over rated, but like I said I haven't tried the MP.

CoD4 MP = CSS for me. It was fun for a bit in small portions but I can't play it for 6 straight hours like BF2. The SP had its ups and downs. It wasn't horrible, it wasn't the best but it got the job done.

If CoD went back to UO style of game play. U know stepping forward instead of reverse like CoD2 I'd play it for the rest of my life.

And oh yea no one can be rational on the internet. Get used to it. Arrogance is king. It's never gonna change till someone invents a way to punch you in the face over the web.
