This is not really a good armor map at all.
Who wants to be a jihad jeeper if you carbomb some hapless tank and then faced with no transportation and the daunting task of walking for five minutes in the desert completely exposed to the next enemy that comes your way? No one because its too troublesome and because the map is flat and mainly featureless so its harder to sneak up on vehicles.

Just because this is suppose to be an armour map doesn't mean that there isn't any infantry fighting to be done at all. Armour should be keeping their optimum distance and bringing their ranged weapons to bear, not charging in and act like cannon fodder. Suddenly the pilum isn't so dangerous when you stay back far enough to see it coming and dodge accordingly.

With all the tanks, walkers, and desert in this map, APCs become very important when attacking silos/flags because they are your mechanised infantry. They carry those squads of usless (relatively) assaults and supports kits through the desert close enough to the flags/silos where they can do their work inside the enclosed area to take out those entrenched enemies and cap points. Plus their EMP and mortars works wonders in supporting other armoured units and for assaulting flags/silos

Given all the space in this map, its only fair that there are plenty of gunships and air transports to fill the skies. 3 gunships and 2 air transport spawns per side on titan maps is the most anyone have seen in any map dice made. I hope you are good with using the AA on the walkers because good gunships pilots are going to make their presence felt real good and you want to be able give something back for them to answer to.

Also note that the walker main weapon is mounted pretty high and the fences surrounding the usually contested areas are low. So good walker pilots will have fun doing circles around the enemy flag/silos, knocking off anyone who is dumb enough to be caught out in the open.

The walkers main purpose in tampa imo is as a mobile AA platform. If not those guns are gonna shred your precious tanks and apcs and transports will cap back cap all day long just hopping around. The main guns/rockets on the walkers are for intercepting people who try to rush the tanks/APCs your defending.

I was wondering, if anyone knows... is this map based on one of the routes in Iraq at the current moment?

I mean I been on that highway and yes it is a bit crazy there...

Yes, "Highway Tampa" is the code name of the main supply route from Kuwait to Bahgdad.

The point of my post and my earlier one is that this map is too damn big with too many vehicles for too few players. You are exactly right in theory how armor should operate, but because there is more than one armor/gunship seat per person per side (not including the APCs), armor has to go in and get silos or they will never be capped.

To me the only people who can really get some mojo going are the gunship pilots.

Highway Tampa is a brilliant map. Last night me and my two clan members were moving up the highway, we were all in nekomatas and we were moving in a triangle formation. We destroyed tanks easily and even had some running with their shields up. Eventually we died one by one, but god it felt good.

hmmm i've noticed some of the best tank players congregate on this map. there's a lot of space to maneuver without having to worry about your armour-plated tank taking damage from a mighty lamppole or twig.

in fact favourite spots for Tiger artillery are starting to show up... underneath the pipes near a silo (sorry cant remember the map by heart yet) is one, good view + inclined slope + pipes overhead protect from gunships.

I think Tampa is a great map, nice and open so vehicles can have fun and as I love going in jeeps and combat tanks and playing the Engineer class because its more challenging and less noobish than the Medic and Sniper, I can love it even more!

Its also truely reminiscent of films where I've had times on small games where 2 clan members in a gunship are chasing me across the map towards a flag base driving a small jeep and dodging all their fire and rockets! Just tilting the camera to look behind you as you drive makes it look great and just shows them "mwhahaha you can't catch me!!!"

                          Recon's paradise!

No supports around, so no stealth detection = much RDX explosions for me!

hahahahaha i just found out how easy it is to get supply points by driving round and round the crowded areas as support with the ammohub upgrade lol.

recon paradise for RDX? sure, if you wanna run out 2 miles to the tank int he middle of nowhere.

People underestimate the power of walker, as tank busters, in this map...if you know how to aim rockets you can take tanks that are very far.
And the other thing you must keep in mind is, if you have some kind of obstacle between you and the tank you are invunerable, just get behind it and repair...even when you are in the open, if you juggle well with your shields, and timings between the tank shots you can keep your walker repaired.
I don“t know how much rounds I ended with less than 2 deaths in Highway tampa.
