lol i had that to when i was pac, i just hide behind one of those pilars and pilum every tank that came by in the back they were like where the hell is he last person even activated his active defense and turned his barrel around.

*(active defense activated) turns barrel around. Omg now ze large barrel is in my face what to do? Shoot a pilum round in the barrel to kill the driver? So just throw some motion mines and throw your bait under the tank (got to love stupidity)*

      My thoughts:
The amount of vehicles makes for some intense fights.
Needs more FAVs: I found myself and others sitting around a few times waiting on an FAV to spawn so that we can get to a much needed position without using the slow tanks, transports etc.
Terrain seems kind of dull...when I think of Highway Tampa I imagine huge busted up roads alongside a destroyed small city with a lot of explosion holes and debris. This map has flat land, a few bumps, and small bases that all feel the same.

Yeah I really would have liked if they spiced up the bases some, like maybe have afew be more city like or even more fortress like.

Such as making the two check points have tall solid walls all around, with ramparts to defend from sort of like mini-castles or something. Basicly make it so that 1-2 people could easily hold the position. Make the center one (I think its gas station) be more urban in nature with the flag being in the middle of afew buildings with acouple AA turrets up there (since right now gunships seem to be able to run unchecked if they kill the other gun ships then have one camp the locked base and the other destroys armor).

I think that would make the map loads more fun and provide different scenarios. Right now its just jump in tanks and walkers and go for it, with those sorts of additions would make transports/APCs alot more useful since right now transports are gunship food, and apcs are tank/walker food. Though if they had good reasons to exist (getting ontop of the tall buildings or over walls) it would be worth the risk to get a squad in on there. It would also add alittle more infantry work to the map meaning you might actually use a kit other than engie.

I dont really like it. I think some new infantry based maps would be more ideal, like Camp G, Tunis, Cerebere...etc.

I have to say Highway Tempa is awesome. Finally some squad play comparing to the senseless killings in the infantry maps. Armors are ruling the map unless you play titan, close infantry actions after some vehical fun. I had a squad of walkers owning everyone, absolutely fun.

BTW, does anyone mind to tell me how to put pictures in my sig? I've been trying for the last few days to put stat in it.

The view cutoff is really ugly when flying though, I wish they would make the fog more natural, really annoys me in a gunship while looking for targets.

In my opinion its a very fun map. I was engi the other day and i was racking up so many kills. But then it sucks when your just running and you get blown up ):

well the map is meant to be vehicle-intensive, you'll be lucky to run from one end to the other in a round =D
best to take an FAV, park it hidden amongst rocks, and work your pilum from there. once you're seen, get in the FAV and run.

places where there are vehicle wrecks make for good ambush spots. Hide some motion mines around them and make yourself scarce. When someone comes along, you can also jump out and shoot them one.

Otherwise you might want to dust off that rocket launcher, get yourself up on some of those silo buildings such as the ones near the gas station area and start sniping vehicles from afar

Bloody big map, that's all I can say..but at the same time, nice change of pace from all the infantry maps...I remember being at the silo at the intersection of the highways....then UAV comes up..oh ******* crap, here they come. Good feeling though lol

I don't think this map is very good for any style of play other than gunship whoring or defending silos as engineer. Armor in the open gets whaled by gunships/jihad jeeps and gets pilumed/motion mined inside the silos. Forget being any class other than engineer (except maybe support to resupply those pilums). This is not really a good armor map at all.

Au contraire... It's a great *team* armor map. There are plenty of maps where one engy who is good with a walker can stomp around a fair while and raise a lot of havok. Tampa ain't it. You are exactly right that the life expectancy of a loner armor jock is kind of short against any decent opposition.

But this map is *perfect* if you can get a good squad going, with an APC as your ranged anti-infantry vehicle, a tank or two for longer-range work, and a walker or two as closer-in "shock" assault. Walker needs to have a good AA gunner (Meaning he doesn't waste any time shooting at people in front of the walker. He should focus on watching the walker's back and the skies.)

You should also have a couple of SAAW guys in the APC or tank(s). With that mix of APC, a couple of SAAW's, tank, and the walker, you can be really effective against any of the threats on the field. Unfortunately, everyone seems to be trying to "lone wolf" it on this map, which doesn't work so well.

The other challenge is that there are lots of people who don't know how to make optimal use of their vehicles. (See the "stupid teammates" thread for examples) APC use is critical: It's a medium-long range anti-infantry destroyer, and needs to clear out those defending AT guys for you, not charge in mindlessly and get wasted. You want a walker driver with happy feet and an infantry or vehicle sensor, who knows how to approach a target in a good zig-zag and circle around the target effectively when he gets there. You want an AA gunner with the other sensor who knows not to kick all that dirt up into your face, and watch your back. You want armor guys who can cover you accurately from range, not get mixed up in a knife fight. You want a commander who supports your assault with UAV and a supply crate. And it wouldn't hurt to have a gunship pilot flying top cover waiting to pounce, instead of all these single-seat missile-macro guys trying to rack up as many quick kills as they can.

I try to stick in a big armor pack as much as possible, even if they are not you squad. It's much safer and more successful than go around with a tank by yourself. Walker in this map is not that powerful since the tank can get you from a long distance and u can do nothing about it. However ,with tanks as cover, you can use walker and APC to attack bases.

tanks are teh ultimate artillery platforms here actually, so long as the driver works like a sniper - pick your shots, move after a few shots. tiger is best for this, park on a hill near the pipes and defend a silo/cp
