comp upgrade

HI all !
i'm noob when it comes to comps but i sure know that i want a better comp ...
so i want to upgrade it xD
since i have AMD comp i dont want new platform so i thought of AMD X2
i have : AMD 3800+ 1 giga ram Radeon 1600x series vid card ...
and i read that if a build my comp whit duo core i must buy new ram and vid card etc.
so is X2 good idea and how do i buy it (and put it in my comp ) and do u need buy new vid card and ram ??
do u have any other idea to speed things little on my comp ?
and yea i'm 14 yrs old dork from europ that knows about comps that much that u know about my math text book (LOL... but true)
so plz help me out here ...it would be very kind of u

Ok your current processor is obvously not good!
Im using an english site, which you could easily find on a site located in your country.

Im not sure what your budget is, so i have put together cheap but good parts for you to look at,

Processor ~ AMD AM2 Athlon 64 4200+ Windsor Core, 2.2GHz

This is a OK processor and it should be a good bost to your pc's performance!
But you could get a better one for say £30.00 more or soo.

Those would be a main boost to your needed performance!

Now as for your video card, you wont need to upgrade that just becuase you have updated your ram & processor, however i have priced a good one below!

Video Card ~ XFX 7300GS 256MB VGA+DVI 512MB In Turbo Cache PCI-E Graphics Card

Should be atleast a 7300GS Or higher, these are cheap!

so when i buy chipset how do i get it in my comp ... i mean do i lose warranty ? ( i have 1 yr left )
so thats in pounds ... right ? chipset is then about 60 -70 euros ? (i'm from slovenia )and it will arrive in package ? u said somethin bout locate local store... didnt quite get that one (sry my englsih is not brilliant)
and bout ram ... does ram only boost up performance in game (i mean no lag )
dunno bout graphic card... can i have 2 of them ?...what does new one do ?

From reading your posts orpal but no offense but sounds like you dont have much experiance putting a comuter together so I would suggest buying from maybe Dell or Gateway. Or is there maybe a computer store near you that builds computers for a living b/c if there is I would go those 2 routes before even attempting to build one yourself.

yea u r right ...but since i dont have much money to pay them (i recently bought ipod and new phone ) i think i would do it on my one.tnx for suggestion but i think i wount do that.
but i will go to my friend that knows pretty much about comps (he onvns comp store ) to ask him question or two.

you can get a cheap amd x2 4200, mobo, 2gb 800mhz ram and a decent video card (x1950pro $140, or high end 8800gts $190) for $500.

don't know what the translation rate is, but you should be able to upgrade pretty cheaply.

and yea i almost forgot... i have motherboard that supports 939 platform but X2 requires AM2 ... so that means i cant have X2 AMD ??

That's not true. AMD X2 is available for the 939.

So, that would be your best bet IF your BIOS supports dual core processors. Then get more ram + new video card & you should be all set if your power supply holds up.

You will likely lose some of your warranty, though Europe is generally more consumer friendly, so you should retain warranty on those parts that you did not touch. You will definitely lose tech support privileges though.

Your graphic card will bottleneck your new system. the 1600 is kinda slow. Plus if you change the motherboard, you will have to reinstall windows. if you have an OEM or recovery version of windows, you will not be able to reinstall it since it is tied to the motherboard. Even if you somehow manage to get windows to boot correctly using the new motherboard, OEM and factory installed versions will require reactivation which will fail. Just so you know

You would have to buy a new copy. If you have the retail version, i.e. one that came in a box and was purchased separately from the computer, you’d be fine. But most likely you have an OEM one. You could just as well go ahead and buy a whole new PC.

I’d suggest you upgrade the CPU to whatever your motherboard supports (like the 4200+ X2 if supported) and the video card to something like a Radeon 1950XT, GeForce 7600/8600. I would also upgrade the memory to 2GB. Anything beyond that is not worth it, imho. You may want to have someone help you with installing the CPU if you have never done it.

and what about overlocking my processor (and some other things if possible)
i read that AMD can be overlocked, right ( AMD socket 939 3800 +...runs on 2.42 GHz...can i boost him bit more ?)
i have to change something in bios right ?
can you tell me exact what i have too do to get the most of my processor, and if you are so kind can you give me some kind of other communication like msn, skype, gmail ... so we can keep in touch more often xD plz
