No such thing as "the best way to bomb", a good pilot creates the fastest and the safest opportunity regardless of angle of attack and executes it with maximum efficiency.
As such, a pilot isnt limited to one or two bomb drops, nor is he limited to one certain drop style.
In general, theres 2 dropping styles. In and out of the dive. The second one takes place with extensive MG hits. You can easily drop using the HUD on the first occasion. On the second occsion, its a little too complicated and needs a gut feeling and extensive excercise (using rear view to adjust the drops).
If youre using the tip of the line to drop the bombs, you need a low angle of attack (basically, youre NOT divebombing), and if youre using a fighter an drop 2 bombs, you need to tip your nose down when the second bomb drops.
All in all, yes, HUD is reliable, in all cases, but theres so much information that you cant really calculate the shots and need to rely on subconscious calculations which you can only achieve with experience.
