You see a ****load more, and you can turn the TV missile more, presumeably, by clicking on the area you couldn't see earlier.

It'll be crappier for infantry play, since it is effectively like increasing your sensitivity and moving farther back (hence a smaller target).

Editing the properties of your shortcut will do the same, and it doesn't require a program that PB may or may not be aware of.

Re: True Bf2 Widescreen Is Here

Ive been playing with it for a while today and it seems a lot better than the short cut way of getting widescreen as it does indeed give you a wider view.

I have been playing with v1.0 as i am unable to use the latest version as I'm on a laptop. cant get the toggle of the * to work.

The zoom thing mentioned in the readme is right and not really a problem, however i have noticed that when playing as a sniper the zoom has a little lag , it kind of jumps slightly to either side depending on which way you turn.

Just wondered if anyone else is getting/experiencing the same thing.

Love it though as it nice to see a little more having played a long time with it cropped.

You can use these commands by going to your main Battlefield 2 shortcut you use to launch the game, right-click on it and select Properties. Then in the Target box, after the "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 text, insert another space, then use any of the commands below. Each command must have a single space between it and the next command.

                  "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

No, we're talking about something different, chainging the Field of View. Resolution is one thing, but in BF2, all that happens is a stretched image (circles become ovals).

So, does PB pick up on this? I don't really see this as a cheat. I mean, I am LOSING top/bottom view area with my widescreen. Why the he11 should I be PENALIZED for having a nice monitor???????????????

I'd like to try this, but not at the risk of getting banned.

For the view of the modded FOV to match the standard, he would have to move forward a few steps, and the imaginary enemy could not see him, hence, cover. In other words, the person with the larger FOV gets more information where necessary. Imagine the pipes as a corner wall, it'll put it into better perspective.
I think I get what your saying, but its important to keep in mind that an increased FOV only affects what YOU see, not how others see you.

The problem I'm having is with this statement :

                        Person A=unmodded
                        B= modded
For B to match A, B would have to move forward? They are already matching because they are in the exact same position. Person A would get the exact same cover if he moved foreward also. Your focusing on how the enemy sees you, which is irrelevant.

I agree with your last point on how Person B gets more information though. He DOES see the person first, so he can react faster, but in reality, both person A and B are most likely going to be in motion, so that very small split second advantage won't matter as much in the long run. The advantage is given to people on defense, snipers, or aircraft users. Snipers are stationary so they will have the advantage of seeing a little more around them. Bombers can potentially see more ground targets. Those on defense are stationary so their FOV will show a little more. Attackers however, are almost always in motion, so they won't really get a major advantage since their FOV is always showing different things.

What I mean, is that by the time Person B has the same information as Person A, he would have moved forward. It seems like nothing there, but imagine running round a corner, and compare.

Tested a bit more this proggy. It is fine to use it in jet but other that that useless since it lags the screen. I mean if I take a sharp move left/right it is not smooth but kinda lagged turn. This is even when turned off. And I tried different values from 1-100

What's the deal with this then? Allowed or not? I'm getting a Benq FP241W and would love to have proper widescreen!

Yeah, I`m wondering about that too. If its only safe to use for single-player/LAN then it is useless as I do neither. In all fairness, a tool such as this should probably be banned, not because I think the very minor advantage a normal user with widescreen would get, but the potential for seriously abusing it is there.

EDIT: Apparantly the guys behind PB haven`t been too negative about its usage. This was said by a guy working on PB (EB) on their own forums: "At this time, we are not considering them to be malicious and they are not breaking anything that would trigger a violation, so go ahead and allow it for the time being. If this changes, we'll make the appropriate announcements."

The maker behind it also emailed them and got this response:
