Neat optical illusion from perspective as well. The mini-map is the same width in both pics, but in the bottom, it looks narrower.

Knowing DICE, widescreen users probably have an advantage in that the wider your health bar, the more health you have

      hehehehe, longer sprint time too!!!!!

it does hang though when zooming in and out so its pretty much useless and actually a detriment in infantry battles but flying wake should be much more interesting.

Changing the FOV does give you an advantage though. In that image, you have more or less full vision of what's behind those tubes. Meaning, by the time you went forward enough for that to not be in view, as in the first pic, you would have cover.

What we need is inward-curled monitors, and full-on 3D desktops to emulate flat screen. It's 2007, it's possible.

You do know that the 2 pictures are exactly the same, just on 1 you can see more right? How would you "have cover" in one but not the other by moving forward?

anyone know how to edit this so i can change the activation button? theres no num pad on a zboard and swapping out keysets in the heat of battle for one button is not fun.

            EDIT

never mind, i was able to map the numpad * to my zboard by using a second keyboard.

In both pictures, the guy is exposed (from an imaginary enemy prone at the pipe). With the larger FOV, you can see the imaginary guy. With the standard FOV, he's seen you, and you're dead meat. For the view of the modded FOV to match the standard, he would have to move forward a few steps, and the imaginary enemy could not see him, hence, cover. In other words, the person with the larger FOV gets more information where necessary. Imagine the pipes as a corner wall, it'll put it into better perspective.

i had to connect a second keyboard and then open the zboard software so i could map the num pad * to it since the zboard bf2 keyset has no numpad. im not really sure what you can do on a laptop aside from changing the coding in the program but i have no idea how to do that. i saw that the oldest version of the program uses the middle mouse button so maybe you can try that version.

Cheers. Just put it in works a treat.

Any news on whether it will be banned on PB or not?

                      Thanks again

Woah that looks very impressive now that I've seen two sets of identicle pictures, one witht he program and the other not.

I think that if you shell out the money for a widescrn then by all means you should be able to use it over a normal full screen. Not everyone uses the same visual settings, hell some youtube videos have peoples computers set so there is absolutely no shaded dark areas to hide in where as I have mine normally set so its harder to see people and then you just have people who can't see as far with there rig...

Comes down to how much are you willing to pay to enjoy the game.

I just installed it.. wow, really improves view for choppers and jets!

I love the way it can be activated and deactivated at the push of a button.

Yep; it also vastly improves F11 and F12 views in aircraft so you can see the full range of your 6 o'clock area; major advantage there to anyone who isn't using this tool. Even the increased depth perception seems to make it easier to aim the cannon on strafing runs.

The cockpit views are beautiful with the guages and readouts more visible; really adds to the experience! My 22" widescreen is now really paying off with BF2
