    True Bf2 Widscreem Is Here

Surprised no one has found this yet , although my forum search came up with nothing .

IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE THIS DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK - THIS HAS NOT BEEN OFFICIALLY SANCTIONED BY EA/DICE OR PUNKBUSTER

However that said i can't see how thay would ever know.

    THIS WORKS

Infantry only is a no no , Planes and helis are a big GO GO GO

I cannot emphasise how much using a heli or plane improves , it takes some getting used to if like me you have over 1200hrs play time.

So, it looks like you are not really getting a greater Field of View, it is just compressing the screen. Do you really get a wider degree of view, like 120 degrees instead of 90 degrees?

    Edit:
but it does not adjust the field of view (FOV) to match the resolution.
Ok, well, I guess it is really not widescreen then. Just another optical illusion.

Re: True Bf2 Widscreem Is Here

It is kinda weird, if you look at the ScreenShots at the bottom of the page, it looks like it just makes it zoom out a little. It almost looks like you get greater FOV but all it is doing is pulling the camera back a little.

Sigh, I really wish that DiCE had spent a week and added a little bit of code to a patch to allow greater FOV. Sure, it gives some advantage to those with widescreen, but hell, people with SLI 8800's get an advantage over those running 6800's.

        Edit again:
OK, it is 4:30AM, I read it all wrong. It looks like this program does have some potential. If it works the way it is promoting itself, it might be rather nice.

Nice find, was sick of trying to get widescreen to work.

I like I/O too much to give it up. I'm happy with 1680x1050 res.

EDIT. Rocket, two 8800's in SLI mode is something an idiot would spend his money on to run bf2 as it is very much not neseccary at all... Even running BF2 in a high resolution would not require such amounts of power.

First off I use a 8800 GTX @ 1680x1050 everything maxed out with 100+ constant FPS. I believe when i unlocked the FPS one time it was above 200 but I can't recall for sure. Anyways, my point is that one 8800 is more than capable to play this game all turned up with eye candy.

Also, SLI only benefits you to a 40% improvement in performance... That's a whole 60% of a second card not being used. Is it worth it to some people? Sure I guess... But with that being said, every new series of cards out performs the previous series in sli mode. Cost effective to go SLI? No.

              Nice find
It increases FOV, will see how good it is during gameplay :)

That is a little beyond the point I was referring to, which was that someone with a top of the line box has a huge advantage over someone that is running a top of the line box of 2003.

I would tread carefully w/ this program....

DICE has said that they consider widescreen to be an unfair advantage (OP pretty much confirms this in his post and I personally agree w/ that assessment).

If PB picks up on macros, don't think for a minute that PB couldn't pick up this program. If you get PB kicked while playing on a PsB server, congratulations because you're probably banned from 1004 servers for BF2.

So, when are they going to take out J10 support?

It does increase the FOV, that's how games tend to increase it in any case.

The potential for abuse is high, however. Think "infinite zoom".

So what about the 3 inches that Widescreen users have been missing out on for over 2 years ? I dont see PB kicking people for using normal monitors vs widscreen monitors ?

That said i do see your point , personaly i dont see the problem with it .

very interesting indeed. anyone get nailed by pb yet for it? looks like it could come in very handy but all it seems to do is back off the camera a bit, kinda how youd adjust the fov in a game like gta.

anyone know how to edit this program to change the activating button? it activates by pressing the num pad asterisk but guess what keys a zboard doesn't have.......num pad.

it does increase the fov, check these two screenies, one on and one with it off. look at the edges of the screen how much more you can see on the 16:10 ratio.
