Agreed. Repairing a damaged tank while on foot versus in a close by vehicle is faster. Good call on looking at the code.

      Excellent research System!

Now that we are getting technical, I have a couple more questions.

      1. Since we determined what's the fastest way to repair, does repairing something faster result in a repair point earned faster? The reason being is that the repair function works in a cycle, and when you repair an ATV for instance, the repair goes much more quickly and thus doesn't result in much time add to your repair cycle. So, would it be better to repair using the the slowest method to get more repair points overall? This may only benefit you by giving you 1 extra repair point in a long round, but that may help someone going for the Expert Repair Badge.

      2. What are the repair times for commander assets and each type of vehicle? I know that smaller vehicles take less time to repair and I would imagine that tanks take the longest.

repair a atv? im could be wrong but i dont think repair points are given unless someone is in/on the vehicle. imean u can fix 'em i jsut dotn think it gives u points, same with c4 blowing bridges doesnt give points, only aids your team.

and IMO i would rather repair fast, cause lessen's possibility of dying, + if you repair 10secs fast u can do some killin in 10sec one kill 2 points, know what i mean vern?:salute:

Yes yes I know someone has to be in a vehicle to get a point. What I'm saying is that it takes less time to repair and ATV vs a Tank.

I also understand the advantages of repairing things faster and how to best protect myself, but I'm more interested in how to get repair points faster since I'll be trying for the expert repair badge soon.

In general, earning the repair points should be faster in this game than what currently is, and also people should be earning more points for destroying the commander's assets. It's not fair certain kits like medic and support to have points earning advantage over engineer and spec ops for example, and than you end up with stupid situations where half of the players on a map are medics.

Can anyone finish the following sentence?

It is faster to repair with the wrench outside the vehicle until your stamina is depleted....

A),and then repair from in a vehicle until your stamina gets back up.

              or,

              B) then continue to wrench after your stamina has run out.

lets try this if ya want too, with a little luck i'll be able to play a coupel games tonight, i'll take engineer providing their destorying some toys, & see how many repair points each can get & post. should be fun at least, & if somebody racks up they can tell their tips:salute:
                if i cant get in 2nite i will 2mar 4 sure

well to answe your questions this is what I've seen from experience...

Repairing anything is very similiar to the medic throwing out his med packs or in some cases, spamming them (lol KARKAND). What I mean by this is that I think it goes by a certian amount of bars you repair each round. I believe this because Sometimes when I'm in a repairing frenzy I can get two "you repaired" qoutes in a row on top of each other before one disappeares. What does this suggest? It has nothing to do with the stamina of the wrench but rather how much HP you repair over all.

No time factor is involed me thinks otherwise you should be able to repair a destroyed UAV all round? It just does not make sense that time would have an effect at the rate you earn repair points other than how many objects you repair at once and what method.

Example. You are sitting in a hummer next to a tank and two apcs all taking dmg. They are all with in your repair radius. You should earn repair points quickly this way vs repairing one tank or APC at a time simply because you are repairing more HP at once. Then again some say the wrench method is faster but thats not what my point is.

As for your repair time question for everything in the game, I do not know. I can say that a commander asset will vary depending on the amount of C4 used to destroy it.

As for vehicles, I never actually noticed a real difference between tanks, apcs and H-vees and vehicles of that nature and I don't recall trying to repair an ATV in SF so I can't say anything about that.

To sum this up, repair points come from the total HP you have repaired during the round and it does not matter how fast/slow you do it.

Ps. When reparing a destroyed UAV after someone blows it up with 2 C4, sometimes you do not get a repair point. This use to tick me off back in my rookie days but I found a way to get what you rightfully earned. Simply chuck a nade at it and go back and repair it. Unless your on a noob server with FF off, you'll get your repair point.

As for the guy above somewhere stating I was wrong about UAV's again and then admitting I was right later on, I think maybe your supply crate repaired the UAV during the split second it was destroyed. That is the only time 2C4 does not work, every time. That being stated, get rid of the crate and then blow the UAV with a duration in between and the uav is history.

Also, maybe no one here has noticed this glitch with the UAV but when you blow it up and it magically repairs itself (in the sense that it does not look like it was destroyed most often caused by a crate next to it when C4 detonated), it is infact still inoperational but appears to be ready to work. I know this because I've seen it happen and I being the commander, was not getting a UAV charge yet the thing looked like it was fine. Weird huh?

Someone also started you need all 5 blocks to kill a bridge, wrong. 2 blocks take down a bridge and 3 tv's will kill a bridge. The best way to describe placing C4 on a bridge is to take an exmaple from Wake island. Walk out a few metres and choose any plank of wood and stick with it. Place the C4 on top of each other or one on the left side and the other on the right, does not matter as long as its on the same plank of wood. Blow it up and the bridge is down. You'll get a sense after a while of the "destruction zones" for each bridge as you play.

IE. Wake island bridges have 3 zones that you can destroy. Each zone can be destroyed (6 blocks of C4, 9 TV missiles, or just bomb the d@mn thing with a jet twice).

Criticize me, say I'm wrong, argue about it, I really don't care anymore because I know for a fact when I play, this is the case every time and not once has it been different.

1450 Hours in. My most played kit in the beginning being spec ops... I loved killing the assests and blowing up anything on wheels whether it be kamikazee or sneakyness... I know where to maximize the DMG and how much of what I need to do it.

Goodluck to all of you who disagree with my game experiences, and for those of you who can agree, props to you. :yay:

On the faster repair thing, what about a chopper or buggy full of Engies? Would two or more Engies in a vehicle repair nearby damaged vehicles quicker than just one?

This is incorrect. 90% of the time, two does the trick. Othertimes not (no crates in sight).

One possible explaination is the 'C4 glitch'. This is where you get an 'extra' C4. Its not really an extra, but sometimes you put all 5 down, and you still have one left.

I think its an issue related to lag, but I've had many, many times put two C4s on the UAV.....BOOM...and no destruction/point.

Otherwise, great report. Thanks for your insight!

If there is a supply crate within reach of the commander asset when it is destroyed, it will be repaired. There is no debate about this, none. The commander asset is reparied to maybe one bar (not sure) if a supply crate is within its reach. Then, you can blow it up again for the extra point. Try it yourself, drop a supply crate to fall on an enemy commander asset, place two C4 on it. Walk away and detonate. It will be repaired, not a lot, but it will.

Edit: The "glitch" you're talking about is lag. You don't get an extra C4, you just didn't drop one of them. That's why sometimes when you 'switch' to the detonator, you don't switch, and you drop an extra C4.

Ummm, I never said or refuted anything about the crates. Then your edit just reiterate what I already said about lag. SO....what's your point?!?!?

Did you not read what system said about the two C4 and the supply crate near the asset, that you quoted, then look at your answer?

Then you said that it was a glitch, which is lag and only lag, that you get one more C4 when you don't. Then you said that you think it is lag, think being unsure of something. Just so you know, a glitch is different than lag.
