I was thinking more Sharqi rather than Oman. Obviously air maps arent made for infantry. Sharqi is equally important to have a good chopper crew as it is for at least 1 good squad. I would bet that the good squad would be more useful to winning the map than that chopper would. Especially if its a solo pilot.

Well, not necessarily: that solo pilot could easily be chaingunning infantry left and right, along with preventing the enemy team from having armored assets, giving his groundpounders an even easier job. No matter which map you place it on, the properly used helicopter makes a huge difference.

      :)

Re: Time for another soloing thread!

The secret to surviving a Helicopter on the ground, is to have a squad that rides around in two or three jeeps.

A helicopter can usually survive a single .50 cal surprise, but as has been proven time and time again in competitive matches that even the best pilots have trouble against 2 or 3. Four is just overkill.

He is not very good at dodges himself, so yeah I can shoot him down. Meaning, if we just go straight at each other and try to dodge/shoot TV's yeah I might do some damage... But if it's 16 Daqing... Where you got to fly strategically and curve TV's around obstacles, then I can't do it :p

This is very wrong, because on no other map a chopper stands out more than on Sharqi. Why? Simply because there are no jets, and the chopper pads are so close to action and to each other, that a chopper - no matter which side it is on - can easily rape the pad, rape some infantry, rearm and repair, and repeat.

            Sloing, LOL

The only defensive argument you chaps have is "Soloing is no teamwork" or "Soloers are bastards".

It takes one really cold stones hearted son of a b!tch who still has the initiatie to fly a dumb fvck son of a b!tch around who has no idea how to operate the gunners seat. I can only see 2 things worse than that- trying to get I-A and I-B or S licenses in GT, finishing Little Mermaid on NES. You guys fail by your own arguments- there are plenty of ways to get information on proper gaming techniques when it comes to the gunners seat. And this game has seized to be a sandbox model a long time ago, back when peoples skill could redefine the fun of 31 people on their team. If you want to be a "team player", you do not fck up the most important vehicle, the most powerful vehicle just because "you feel like it". You go to a LAN server, you get down to the basics, you go to forums and read how its done proper.

I do not gun for pilots because I lack the skill to make up the difference when it comes to a proper adversary. I do not gun if I have sh!tty hardware. I do not gun if theres a crew better than me ready to go, because chopper crews win battles in less than 3 minutes. Theres no infantry player, no tanker and no jet pilot that can do that.

If its about fun (your selfish fun), think about this. For the sake of the whole team, is it better to ruin YOUR round, or would it be better if YOU ruined the round for the 31 people on your team?

As far as personalities go, kiddies will stay kiddies. Aslong as they wont talk crap to you out of spite, leave them alone. Personally for me, theres no greater fun that team-killing-ramming that kiddie out of the skies until he leaves the server. :P
            Absolutely well said!

Only the helicopter can be that imposing. Hence the expression "a good crew or soloer wins the round for his team".

A good heli on your team makes the game feel like I/O. A good chopper on the enemy team makes you want to play I/O.

I can't dodge most good gunners. It really doesn't matter because I don't miss my shots.

What if your opponent shoots first?

                      Air burst.

                          That's not a pub genius.

In pubs I know how to range and how to sneak up on people through cisterns when soloing. 2v2 scrims are not the same as a pub noob.

This is a 2v2 scrim, we each have pilots. That's how it works.

most of them do in the 2v2. its not hard to hit a target when you can just move the mouse and not have to left click for a direction change. most also alter their interpolation and extrapolation as well witch really helps in tvguiding.
