the problem is i get massive lag so much so i almost crashed 3 servers lol.
also the server ping on the server page in bf2 is showing 2700ms-3700+ms.
on the upside I'm not being kicked by pb any more. just i cant connect to any servers any more.

Re: PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB, a heads up

Weird....... OK, here's what I did in order

        - Uninstalled B2 and the B2 folder in program files AND My docs
        - Ran All AVG Scan plus an Xoft Scan
        - Ran Registry Mechanic scan
        - Ran Disk Cleanup
        - Ran Disk Defragmented

NOW MY PC is as clean as the Virgin Mary (except for the porn)

        Now then for the reinstall

        - Installed B2
        - Rebooted
        - Installed SF
        - Rebooted
        - Istalled EF and AF
        - Rebooted
        Installed 1.41 Patch
        - Rebooted
        - Installed Highway Tampa map
        - And you eguessed it, Rebooted

Now I only get kicked from the server when I try to connect BUT, the second time I try on the Exact same server, I connect and everything comes up fine. NOW!, I do get about 20 seconds of freeze once I'm in the game. Everything just stops. After about 20 secs, I'm up and playing fine. It's weird VERY weird but at least I'm playing with wayy less lag then what I had before problem surfaced.

        Hope this helps.

Re: PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB, a heads up

ok, as you can tell i was very frustrated with my problem that i could not find a solution to, BUT I FOUND IT! no it wasn't from anyone giving advice on a forum but it was actually EA tech support (online ticket) -- i was so surprised that they replied to me within 10 hours. then i tried the first directions he told me to do and WOOOH, the game works :)

it appears that the new pb can "hide" in certain places on your registry even if you use your pbsvc or uninstall the game. basically what i had to do is COMPLETELY remove pb from my computer by not only running pbsvc but also going into my registry with regedit and deleting a few things.

i could not believe it worked! THANK YOU EA. SCREW OFF PUNKBUSTER!

after trying the manual uninstall of pb and making sure the registry is clear and nothing is hiding then the two other options are as follows

Make sure that Battlefield 2 and Punkbuster are on your Firewall's and Antivirus Software's 'Allow' lists.

Make sure that if you are running firewall and/or anti-virus software that the Battlefield and Punkbuster executables are in the allowed list and not on the block lists.

The services that need to be allowed for Punkbuster are PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe.
Note: If you already have the executables in the allowed list, please remove and re-add them to the list.

                        Finally,

Make sure Punkbuster is running properly

                        Click on Start.
                        Click on Run.
                        Type services.msc and click OK.
Verify that PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB appear.
If these services appear but do not say 'Started' next to them, right-click on the first one and select Properties.
Under the Startup type pulldown, select Automatic.
Press the Start button just below the pulldown.
Repeat this for the other service if necessary.

                        Good luck mate

Mine has PB A started, but no PB B, i didnt ahve my game booted or would that matter, i'll boot it later & try see if it shows up, but how would you get the B if it dont show up when game is booted?

PB gonna be BF2's downfall? & EA was doing such a good job at it.

I to am having problems with Punk Buster I am not happy to say the least.

I am not running a firewall on this system and I did all the suggestions stated with out success. I find it funny how the B version works for FEAR with out a problem, while BF2 doesn't run it. Task manager states only the PnkBstrA is running. I have no idea what to do other than slander BF2 and PB!

im in the same boat as you ive tried every suggestion for last few days and i just cant get bf2 to work again. Punkbusterb doesnt even run in services.
I think its bs that my gameplay should be disabled because of this thing, dont these guys fully test before releasing something that can affect so much people, why should any of us even have to do a few steps out of our way. We are paying customers not beta testers.
