Re: Point of using M95 in infantry maps
Guys have you ever thought about the fact that snipers always use silencer! Otherwise their location is not a secret anymore.
BF2 is missing this feature on sniper rifles
The only thing they have a silenced pistol but that is only secondary weapon
Sorry, this is a bit offtopic :)Comment

Re: Point of using M95 in infantry maps
I wouldn't say they always use them - "supressors" have an impact on the velocity, affecting overall range etc. It would depend on the mission I suppose. I'm sure they get used by spec-op sniper squads etc.Guys have you ever thought about the fact that snipers always use silencer! Otherwise their location is not a secret anymore.

I also doubt you'd be able to supress the report of an M95
Would be a cool option for some maps though!
...Really? What about this:

This is interesting too:
According to Operation Iraqi Freedom PEO Soldier Lessons Learned [LTC Jim Smith 15 May 2003] "The Barrett 50 cal Sniper Rifle may have been the most useful piece of equipment for the urban fight – especially for our light fighters. The XM107 was used to engage both vehicular and personnel targets out to 1400 meters. Soldiers not only appreciated the range and accuracy but also the target effect. Leaders and scouts viewed the effect of the 50 cal round as a combat multiplier due to the psychological impact on other combatants that viewed the destruction of the target.
“My spotter positively identified a target at 1400 meters carrying an RPG on a water tower. I engaged the target. The top half of the torso fell forward out of the tower and the lower portion remained in the tower.” 325th PIR Sniper "There were other personal anecdotes of one round destroying two targets and another of the target “disintegrating.”Comment

Ok. here is the L96 crosshairs (example of course)
________|_________
M96
44444444444||||4444444444
Honestly why would anyone want to use that gun for shooting people. Aim a mile over their head and you might hit them in the big toe.Comment

Re: Point of using M95 in infantry maps
I'd say, it's more satisfying to make a long range headshot with a weapon more difficult to master. Just for the fun, I've been using M95 for a long time now, and I'm getting used to it.
L96A1 is best for sniping medium to long range. SVD and Type 88 are best for close range to medium range. To get the best feeling of making it right, use M95.
If u can use M95, u can use them all.Comment

Re: Point of using M95 in infantry maps
I'll take the M95 any day!!! It is my main sniping rifle and I have over 200 hours in with it so if you know your gun well enough then you don't need to whine about crosshairs, bullet drop, or why it is not as good as other rifles!! The M95 is the best dang sniper rifle out there just learn how to use it!Comment

Re: Point of using M95 in infantry maps
Barely anybody uses silenced sniper rifles in real life because it has a major impact on velocity, and accuracy. Silencers are only really used in close, urban combat. Swat uses silencers to slow down the bullet so they don't over penetrate walls and kill civilians, and of course the whole "SILENT"thing.Guys have you ever thought about the fact that snipers always use silencer! Otherwise their location is not a secret anymore.

Re: Point of using M95 in infantry maps
M95 has a different ammo material than other handheld weapons. Different materials have different damage modifiers. Shotguns also have a different ammo material than bullet weapons so their damage is reduced more against body armor.Comment
