I LOVE the sounds in the POE mod so if i added a few of them (sniper) to the regular BF2 game would it ban me?

When I used to play Doom, I had a sound WAD file that changed all the effects, it was great because I could hear people several rooms away. It would be great to have a found mod for BF2 just for that same reason.

It doesn't really give you an unfair advantage, so I am sure it will be fine.

im pretty sure you will be fine, if anything you would get kicked, but definately not banned, why dont you make a copy of your BF2 folder to another location and change em there, that way if you screw it up you wont screw your main BF2 folder up.

How would i go about doing this?

its the same username and CD code though isnt it.

Also, i know i want to try this but how would i do it? i don't know where all the weapons sounds are

Also, would i be able to swap crosshair images in game too? I love the crosshairs in the mod over the vBF2 ones....and it isnt like i can zoom in closer or have an advantage....just a different image?

the sounds are stored in a zip file in the mod folder.

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\poe2 i think for poe2

and so justopen up common_client.zip with winzip or something and look around in there

but IMO, i dont think u will be able to edit it and u will get a modified content kick

right click on your BF2 folder in your EA directory and click COPY, find a nice juicy empty spot on your harddrive, smackdab in the C: drive will do find, right click and hit paste, after a minute or 20 (depending on your HD speed) you have an identical copy of bf2 that you can use/play/mod etc for what you like without affecting your main BF2 folder. IDK about Xhair images, you can try, but i wouldnt go hogwild with the changes or your game will be essentially a mod, and mods dont work with Bf2 vanilla, but thats why you have a copy right

Yep, wont let me on with modified content. assholes.

worked in single play though and worked well, much better than the pea shooter M24 sound usually.

i tried to have custom textures on BF2 online but it also said modified content, how can textures give away your position

EDIT accualy it coud give away your position if you make every weapon,vehicle etc like a bright pink or other bright colors

Mm... this reminds me of my Counter-Strike days... i had the models and the sounds changed with custom content. Good ol' days.
Bf2 is more pesky with this, punkbuster is on the hunt... but we would be able to get custom content... but could be an advantage, yes... well... you can unlock two more snipe rifles that sound meaner, i think.

Well the L96 sounds okay and the M95 too but they still dont sound as good as the rifles in POE
