baddddd lag 2nite

Hey everyone,

tonight (sat) i was playing bf2 and i experienced the worst lag since i began playing 2 months ago. i have a fairly decent system x2 4600 7900gt ko and 2gb corsair xms ram & 74gb raptor. ive noticed a decline in performance lately since installed AF, but thats another story. well tonight when i was playing it was BAD. i had my fps in top left corner it was bouncing from high 50's to 80's which i guess isnt bad, but the game was still lagging. it was really choppy like a fraction of a second freeze. it would be smooth for a few seconds and then every other second it was skip a frame or something. i was flying gunner in a chopper the entire time and i couldnt even aim. anyone know what the cause of this is? punkbuster or is it my system.? i alt esc during the game and temps showed 46C so i dont know...

Man..... anything over 30 is good, over 40 is really good..... its amazing how much I flog people who have no lag....without lag would be sweet!

Might have to do with drivers, or server.

What ping did you have with the server? Did you play different servers than usual?

i played on same server i usually do, i was constently checking my ping it was in 40's. i also noticed that for a breif second the game said "there is a problem with your connection" and then it went away, but it remained really stuttery and kept skipping. i didnt try a different server, however it was fine at the beginning it wasnt until the next map loaded i noticed it.... i will try and log back in and see.

seems like packet loss. the server losses some info sent between u and the server therefore the brief 'problem with connection'. its quite common actually. although a better internet and faster server can alleviate such problems

Thank god u have ping of 80's and u have problems,then what should i say with my ****ty ping of 170~220. Guess some people are lucky.

well i played on a different server last night and what a difference. i think it was the 1st server i was on that was causing all the lag... i did 2 maps on the new server and didnt exeperience hardly any lag, maybe a few times alittle stuttering, but i can live w/ that. thanks for everyones help.
