??? Is this game not based on a ranking system? The only thing to look forward to in this game is getting a kill and getting a point for it. Is it not? Yes, teamwork is awesome, makes you win the round. But would you rather hold your buddies hand all round, and stay a sergeant forever?, or actually go up some ranks?Comment

Quite simply: no. Some people play the game for the entertainment of being involved in a combat simulator with a bunch of random people.
Who really gives a sh*t if you rank up? I stopped worrying about stats the day after the game came out. The only reason any right-thinking individual would want to earn points is to unlock weapons. Badges and other shiny memorabilia is just that, memorabilia.
Stats ruin the game.Comment

While we are posting crazy ideas about what happened, heres one. I think that EA decided they wanted to wipe the stats of all the cheaters on all the ranked servers. So one EA guy said that he could do it. In the process he limited the stats tracking ability to one or two servers, total. He knew he could watch all the players on those by himself with no help. When it became known, by most players, which servers had the stats system still working they were invaded by all the people who could squeeze onto them, mostly cheaters and other bad sorts with a few regular players (aka.victims).
When the stats system finally starts working dont be suprised to see a massive stats purge. All the cheaters caught during this "stats emergency" will be purged for good from BF2 and EA will claim that they got rid of everyone who cheated in BF2 on the 16 and 17 of June 2007. EA will also tell us how hard it was to watch all the ranked servers and catch these guys.
Now since you know that this post is my work of fiction doesnt it still sound almost as good as all the other Ideas on what happened? . . . . . . . . . . .RedComment

Yeah, I think EA is trying to purge the ranking system. Have you notice how you rise in EA Rank even though that stats aren't counting? I've gone from #350 in the world with LMG's to #343 without even playing! I bet some people are getting reset.... Just a theory.
Oh, and yes, eggs are an excellent source of protein.. just like chicken.

People, People its not any of those things. DICE employees were playing a simple game of darts near the stats server box. There was money on the line, a lot of money. They were drinking at this event and spilling drinks all over the place. Most of the players were nervous, except for one who was REALLY nervous.
Well, this one guy gets up to throw his dart, slips on the wet floor and tosses his dart right into the stats box. Shorted out the whole stats system. Shorted out the HD's the stats were stored in. Its a shame really. WEll, for them. The people involved have been working 24/7, no sleep, 2 bathroom breaks a day ONLY. Bread and water. Random floggings.
Its all true too. My friend was at this party and told me all about it through secret email. Believe it or not its all true.Comment
