I think this is more of a case of hitbox collision mesh and models not lining up right more than it is weapons "penetrating" glass.. I know jet cannons actually PENETRATE it as well as M95.. but I think most others are glitches.. almost like SRAW/ERYX... I think the explosion goes past the glass a little and kills whoever is inside because the explosion "leaked" inside.. if you know what I mean.

We tend to call that "penetrating" here :laugh:

Oh, as I said, it's definitly penetrating, soup up the damage or the velocity in a gun's tweak file and snipe out a bot.

C4 blows up chopters immidietly.

1 C4 can't blow up UH-60 as far as I know ..:|:

I posted earlier in this thread that I took down an attack chopper with my pistol and I did and still do from time to time. However I didnt give a good explanation(sp). Almost any weapon can destroy an attack chopper but still cant penatrate the glass, cockpit. If you see an enemy chopper and it is smoking it is a good Idea to put a few rounds into it. I have been doing this for a long time and that is how I take them down with a pistol. It will usually take one clip and maybe part of another to do it but you can do it. The main advantage is that the pistol doesnt have, when seen from a chopper, the large muzzle flashes that the other weapons have and so the pilot will have a hard time spotting you.

The Anti Tank weapon doesnt seem to go through the glass either but kills the pilot with the splash damage. The way I see it is that dead is dead, how doesnt matter. I hope this explains the pistol thing for you. . . . . . . . . . .Red

Indeed. A smoking chopper is an easy kill, and sometimes 2+ kills. Just be the last to get a damaging hit on a chopper and it's all yours.

So last night, I was playing our TBF2 v BF2S practice and I started shooting the PLA chopper (not the Z10, the cow). Anywho, if you are close enough any bullet will bust the glass. Now, I'm assuming it goes through based on the graphics and the sound. Sound was the biggest indicator. I was extremely close to the chopper; about 2m away. So don't expect to kill pilots, but it's possible (at least from what I saw and heard). There were not pilots in the chopper while I did this so someone might want to confirm this.

I understand that you're saying any weapon can take down/penetrate the ARMOR of a helicopter... but maybe I just misread your post... What I'm saying is what weapons are capable of penetrating the glass, and killing the pilot while keeping the helicopter intact.

Only M95 and weapons with splash damage can kill the pilot without blowing up the chopter itself. I just tried with M249, Jeep .50 cal and all those other weapons on Daqing oilfieds in single player. NONE of them damaged the pilot, not even the .50 cal machinegun.

Have you ever killed the pilot with some of those weapons in that list or do you just assume that they penetrate from the sound??

I've actually done it.... 400h will include glitches if that may be the reason for some.

Ok so I just tried attaching 1 x C4 in the right (pilot side) Black Hawk sidewindow. 2 guys came in it .. pilot died, chopper remained intact. So I think C4 should be added on the list even thou it blows other aircraft exept transport chopper immediately :) It penetrates glass

Well small arms dont penetrate in 1.41, thats for sure. Even .50 cal machinegun wouldn't hurt the pilot in the cockpit.

Always keep in mind that it may have been a glitch.
