We all (I hope) know that the m95 can penetrate glass. However, after playing my share of Battlefield 2 I have noticed several other weapons penetrate glass without destroying the cockpit.

Have you guys ever penetrated glass with any gun other than the m95?
Do you think this is a glitch or was put in on purpose?
Why do other guns not show as glass penetrating?

With the exception of the SAW all of the guns listed above are of equal or greater power than M95. The M95 fires 50 cal bullets, PKM feels like it im guessing :P, jet cannon, APC cannon, jet missiles, helicopter machine guns, helicopter TV missiles and rockets, Eryx, Tow and SRAW are all a great deal more powerful. I mean think about these missiles penetrate the armor of combat tanks, you'd HOPE they can break some pathetic bullet proof glass >:3 tank machine guns im pretty sure fire really powerful rounds, M203 (USMC GL launcher for those who dont know) is a grenade fired at a high velocity so yeah it seems to be it would pierce glass. In the description for the M95 it says it can pierce bullet-proof glass but I think EA Just meant its the only SNIPER RIFLE that can pierce bullet proof glass.

This should totally be in the next BF2 mythbusters

Jet's MG common to get shot out from, very annoying, prob the worst for me, the others are more easily avoidable somewhat.

Shooting out heli-squads from their chopper with jet MG is so satisfying.

But I don't think PKM can penetrate.

Yeah, that has to be the funniest thing I've done. A real "WTF" moment :laugh:

I don't think the PKM can penetrate, but if you have a squad of people pounding away at a heli with PKMs, it goes down very fast.

I've always played with the belief that the PKM can penetrate glass.

I guess that doesn't really help in determining if it actually does. I do believe I read about it ages ago (like Oct 05), and that's why I've thought that.

Strangely enough it depends on the angle and health of the attack helo. I have taken one down with my pistol. Back to the main topic, you can take the pilot out of any attack chopper by doing a head shot. If he is low enough the chopper will crash land and then you can take it back to your chopper pad for repair. This is a good reason to fly with a 2 man crew. When you solo and this happens you have just given your teams chopper to the enemy. I have done this a few times to new chopper pilots who were doing the flag cap thing. That's why you circle-of-death a flag if you're doing that. An upside down heli doesn't last long with no pilot.

i think the reason most of the rockets and other explosive devices kill through glass is not projectile penetration. i think that the effects of the explosion are not stopped by the glass... if the explosion is right on the glass... it probably acts on objects on both sides.

I was on dragon valley when a transport heli was hovering over a nearby base....must have only been 50 or so meters away so i aimed at the cockpit with my L9 sniper rifle and i saw the heli go flying down and it said "you have killed......"

I didn't know/don't think the L9 can penetrate glass like the M95 can? and i didn't blow the heli up either...so i don't know how i did it.

You hit the inside, not through the glass. I've shot out half the people in a full blackhawk doing that, with an ERYX though.

It's hilarious to take down Z-8s with jet MGs from that gaping hole in the back. Or if they land, lob a grenade or 6 into them.

I believe glass penetration is not a yes/no issue but an amount of damage done issue. M95 and other "armor-piercing" weapons do a higher percentage of damage to the glass due to their material modifiers and also have a high base damage so will (usually?) penetrate on the first shot but I think all bullet weapons can penetrate eventually (since they all have non-zero modifiers vs. glass). (Shotgun pellets will never penetrate though; they have a zero damage modifier.)

That might just mean it was already crippled and you got the last damage in before it crashed.
