REMOVE enemy name tags

A simple suggestion that I personally think would make the game better is this and it is dead simple...

Get rid of the names above the enemy only.. this way if no name .. you will know they are the enemy.. the main reason I think this would be good is that it would make the game play a lot better.. as you would be able to sneak around a lot better .. hide etc..

I mean as is a jet fighter could really spot you hiding in a bush as they fly around.. it makes the whole game stupid.. also how can you really be a sniper with the bloody advert say "hi i'm here everybody"...

what i am saying is.. the biggest part of the game that is a let down (imo) is that you can't really sneak around or hide because you have this illuminated sign always above your freakin head.. so ..you can't really ambush or any thing similar.. if you get me?

It would make a massive difference to the way the game would be played and one that I think would be a good improvement.

I searched the forum thoroughly before placing this thread and CANNOT believe no-one has suggested it before...?

Infact lets get a poll going on this one?? what you say?

I think your tag only appears when you have been spotted or can be directly seen by a player. I thought it wasn't constantly on. Not sure though...

ya, the name tags are olny there if you look at the enemy player, there not on 24/7, if there on 24/7 its a hack.

But yea, the nametags are not even over your head all the time, I'm still trying to figure out what you are complaining about... UAV and SCAN are what makes it hard to sneak around, Which the game would suck without because you can spawn on squad leaders. removing nametags wouldn't really do..... much at all.

I understand what you mean about the name showing up eg when your cross hair goes over an enamy.. but it also makes it easy to find players hiding in amongst the bushes or building etc etc...

lol... I'm not really complaining... love the game .. just think this small adjustment would make things more interesting.. surely you understand where I'm coming from though???

I guess the main point is you only really need to know who your friends are .. so you don't shoot them ..everything else is free game...

OK, I will take that as a great reason for it. It kinda sucks being give away when you are behind a dumpster and the only reason that passing APC saw you was because of the nametag glowing above the lid.

I find I am always sneaking around a flank, and so many times, I know I would not be seen if it were not for the name tag...even if the other player has all the graphics on low to reveal people in the shadows. It pisses me off to no end. I guess I should go to a nametag with a single character...if that is allowed.

id like the option to toggle nametags on or off, for friendlies, and enemies....because that, coupled with the 3d map off, would make this game excellent visually......not magical floating flags, numbers, or names or ranks....lol


i dont like being able to see enemies movement/location due to a red glowing sign about thier head, it really noobifies the game for me....so many times ive been able to follow enemies with my crosshairs simply by watching the red name-tag creep around beind a ledge...where, normally, they would have evaded me, i can track their movement and be ready for them...

i think the only thing ppl should need to distinguish friend from foe, is the uniform of the soldier, and their appearance on your minimap....also, when i get immersed in the game, the name-tags of friendlies and eneies take away from the environment

I love the game too, but out of all the glitches, bugs, etc. this is what you would like to see fixed? Not fixed rather altered.

Give Project Reality a try.

No name tags, no crosshairs, no "whiskers" to indicate a hit. To me, it's dry. To others, it's gold.

I posted about this about a week after BF2 was released, when I realized playing a stealth class was essentially useless, because everyone could find you (and I could find them) just by scanning for their name tag.

I think the tag makes it easier to shoot far away targets. And it is easier to find hidden enemies with that. It's true that it only shows up when enemies are really close or you're looking directly at them.

I get the point: The hidden sniper should be nearly invisible. The tag makes it, that you can point at the bush without really seeing the sniper. The tag shows up - shoot - kill! That bothered me in all Battlefield games. But with the time I got used to it.
But maybe they should disable tags for sniper kits

In bf42 you could do this.
Makes the game tougher to play
