I've had 5 friends and a 3 family members serve in Iraq/Afghanistan so if I joined right now I'd just piss everyone off. My family is pretty tired of being worried all the time.

all you need to do is look at Americas Army that game is a recruitment/propaganda tool that's why it was made if it didn't work they wouldn't keep paying for the development of new versions of that product plain and simple.... then again they still pay for the patriot missile system so who knows lol

The Army already tried to get people to join by using a video game. It's called America's Army, if you ask me the game sucks, but i've been playing Battlefield 2 (which is the best multiplayer military game ever) that I find America's Army boring.

Umm the U.S. Army doesn't have a video games development MOS (military Occupation Specialty), if so I'd go back in tomorrow! Therefore the game wasn't made by them. It was made by whoever the software company is they contracted to create the title for their recruiting needs.

Rofl bro people don't sign up for the military because it is "Heaps of fun".

The military seems to think they do. That's why recruiting adverts make it look like a non-stop extreme sports comp with camo outfits and guns!

There are waaay more deaths in a round on jalalabad than in three months of real USMC fighting.

Do you think that would change if they were put into battles of the same intensity as BF2, with opponents of equal skill and strength? For the last 20 years western militaries have mostly dropped bombs and artillery to win wars, rather than going toe-to-toe with infantry forces.

To be honest, I'm going for basic training July 3rd, and have only bought BF2 probably mid-way between my application process. It hasn't swayed my opinion of the military what so ever, and you have to take it as a purely arcade game. If you even think that this game is similar to a combat experience, or that it emulates a war well, then your mis-informed.

thats a matter of opinion. I'll definately put the SAS in the top 5 of military elements with the Seals, Rangers, Force-Recon, and Delta. But to just blatantly call their entire Army better than every Army on the planet is kind of ignorant.

Playing BF2 makes it violently clear just how easy it is to get killed or maimed in a battle. But then it also looks like heaps of fun.

WTF it is a game, reality is nothing like this. But if you enlist you will find out that anyway.

A DD213? Sounds like you are already telling stories. Anyone who ever served knows its a DD214. Another wanna be veteran gets BUSTED!

Real warfare is nothing like karkand I/O, the level of teamwork far exceed any PR tactical gamer server.
There are waaay more deaths in a round on jalalabad than in three months of real USMC fighting.

I am completely unaffected by the game, cause thats all it is. This is nothing like real life combat, and there are many reasons to join any sort of military.

you can join the military and not be infantry its not like if you join the army you are going to be in the same situation as people in Bf2.
