    Re: Redlining

What bothers me about redlining. Is when people do it without giving the gunner a chance to prove himself.

It sucks when you get in the gunner seat. Try and find your pilot's squad only to find it locked with one person or that he's not in a squad. Then by the time you've created a squad and invited him to join to work as a team he's got you in the dead zone, and in 20 seconds your slumped dead over the gunsight.

The one vehicle i have the largest amount of time in is still the helo. And i have had my fair share of 2nd Seat Paperweights. But i prefer to fly for my gunner becasue his weapons have the greatest affect in the overall battle.

One thing i have learned is that after getting shot down twice i usually make the guy fly. After he crashes us into a building or brick wall or whatever ridiculous death happens to come. I find the person is usually more receptive to instruction on the finer arts of gunning. I also like to tell people about the guides on this forum which offer a lot of info on how to be a good gunner.

The only way i got better was by reading the chopper guides on the forums, praticing on empty servers, watching some really amazing pilot/gunners and asking for their advice.

I can usually spot the hot stick and rudder guys and the TV experts within the first few minutes of a round. But most new people don't know the difference. I usually invite them to my sqaud and tell them to back off on the helo and let the professionals handle it. Plus i get one more squadie to help cap flags anyway.

But i guess it's just easier to say, "OMG U SuXor! Get the F*&$ outta my helo you noob" and then redline them.

Helo pilots should feel lucky though at least they can redline people if it's that important to them. Bomber pilots are stuck with whatever jumps in. I can't begin to calculate how many free aerial tours i've given.
"We're all very different people. We're not Watusi. We're not Spartans. We're Americans, with a capital 'A', huh? You know what that means? Do ya? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're mutts! Here's proof: his nose is cold! But there's no animal that's more faithful, that's more loyal, more loveable than the mutt." -John Winger (Bill Murray) Stripes

          Re: Redlining

To be honest, I learnt with skilled pilots putting up with me. Single player isnt meant for training. It's meant for practice.

Now before you quote and laugh, training and practice are too entire differant concepts.

I practice on OCS, and I train on FILLED servers, or mostly empty.

You have to give the gunner a chance, if he doesn't use basic logic, I.E shooting at a heli with your guns, then you know he'll fail.. But please, give them a chance.

Uh huh... and, in the process, deprive your team of the most valuable asset. Why don't you just save a step and tk/solo?

I automatically assume that an unknown is going to be an impediment; in other words, they're guilty of suckage until proven otherwise.

Depending on my mood at any particular time, I either gave people one chance to prove their worth or flew alone. I've been disappointed far too often to make the mistake of "giving people chances", but that's just little ol' intolerant Sloi.

There's a pretty good reason I used to make my way to the alternative chopper spawns when maps start: most people don't bother capping for those vehicles, so I'd get my personal heli and, more often than not, would keep it for the rest of the round.

            That's how I roll, g.

Soloing you can POSSIBLY get more kills. I've never soloed myself but they do it by switching from seat to seat I think. But why is everybody supporting redliners? It's the OPPOSITE of teamwork and no matter what they say it's selfish and it doesn't help the team out.

                Re: Redlining

Most people don't support redlining, only a few people do it on a regular basis, with the rest of the redliners doing it when absolutely necessary to bring a team back from the dead.

                  Re: Redlining

Saying BF2 is a teamgame is no excuse for trying to learn how to tv missile halfway through a round...

If you are such a teamplayer, then get out and go help the team...

I you see a solo pilot owning it up and not flying around asking for someone to get in, then he does not want anyone in...
So why are you waiting on the chopperpad half a round..?

And if you really suck, but are a teamminded player, then switch to the enemy team and keep beeing yourself...
That will help your team enormously...

                      yep, totally agree

the other night I had this guy that couldnt hit the water with a tv missle on Wake Island, after the 4th time of going out in the helo and dieing as soon as we encountered the enemy helo, I really became annoyed.....wait for helo to spawn 4 times, DIE 4 times and get NO kills........REALLY FREAKIN ANNOYED
I told him "stay the **** out of the helo or I will redline you" he had enough nerver to ask why....DUH IDIOT YOU CANT SHOOT THE TV MISSLE!!!!
he said if you think you can do better yourself then go ahead

I left solo, first trip I hit 6 out of 7 TV shots (1 TV misfire glitch) netting me 9 kills, came back, reloaded then went out and went 7 for 7 with the TV missle, the third time out I was at 4 of 5 shots when I got rammed, I respawned at the ship and the guy was still waiting on the ship, I said to him "dont even think of getting in the helo" his reply "nah its ok man, your doin fine yourself" LOL

I dont mind giving someone a chance, but ffs, if I have the decency to let you try and you fail, then you should have the decency to get out when you fail........if not, "Where are you going soldier? Get back to your post or you will be shot" and I will not feel guilty about it one bit

Sloi, Im just an average pilot and a little better gunner, I would really like to gun for you sometime when you get your internet straightend out, so I can get a few "real time" tips from someone really good

Gunning single player gives you plenty of training with TV missile in the event you get a ****ty pilot.

But again, people should not try to fly/gun if they can't own single player.
