Re: Redlining
What bothers me about redlining. Is when people do it without giving the gunner a chance to prove himself.
It sucks when you get in the gunner seat. Try and find your pilot's squad only to find it locked with one person or that he's not in a squad. Then by the time you've created a squad and invited him to join to work as a team he's got you in the dead zone, and in 20 seconds your slumped dead over the gunsight.
The one vehicle i have the largest amount of time in is still the helo. And i have had my fair share of 2nd Seat Paperweights. But i prefer to fly for my gunner becasue his weapons have the greatest affect in the overall battle.
One thing i have learned is that after getting shot down twice i usually make the guy fly. After he crashes us into a building or brick wall or whatever ridiculous death happens to come. I find the person is usually more receptive to instruction on the finer arts of gunning. I also like to tell people about the guides on this forum which offer a lot of info on how to be a good gunner.
The only way i got better was by reading the chopper guides on the forums, praticing on empty servers, watching some really amazing pilot/gunners and asking for their advice.
I can usually spot the hot stick and rudder guys and the TV experts within the first few minutes of a round. But most new people don't know the difference. I usually invite them to my sqaud and tell them to back off on the helo and let the professionals handle it. Plus i get one more squadie to help cap flags anyway.
But i guess it's just easier to say, "OMG U SuXor! Get the F*&$ outta my helo you noob" and then redline them.
Helo pilots should feel lucky though at least they can redline people if it's that important to them. Bomber pilots are stuck with whatever jumps in. I can't begin to calculate how many free aerial tours i've given.
