I must say I am VERY HAPPY they didn't ship BF2 with a headset! We have allready got ENOUGH eleven-year old boys with a very high pitched voice yelling "CAN ANYBODY HEAR ME!!!!!11"
There is still plenty of time to get to Radio Shack (or wherever) and get your cheap microphone. Check to see if I am online playing sometime and you can join my squad. My clan uses voice extensively.
Happy BF2 Radio Shack Day.....
I also find that these mics work the best. Headsets may be cool but they are rarely high quality. Also, they suffer from two problems.
1) The mic keeps moving closer and farther from your mouth and the result is either you are too loud or too soft for the players listening.
2) As it bumps into your mouth and cheek, it sounds like an obscene phone call to the players listening.
I have a Koss mic that has a small stand and flexible neck that I bought for about $10. I use it for both business and play and everyone tells me the quality is quite good.
Try again headset can be very good quality and are designed for gaming.
I declare that tomorrow is the Official BF2 Radio Shack day. All of you who do not have a microphone should go to Radio Shack tomorrow and buy a computer microphone for about $7 to $10. Imagine the thrill of being able to communicate with your squad with your own voice!
And yes, it is ok if you go to Walmart or Circuit City or wherever if there is no Radio Shack in your home prefecture.
Happy BF2 Radio Shack Day! :yay:
It's just too bad that many of us actually have mics, but can't use them, because BF2 is stupid, and does not configure mics correctly. Now before you call me a noob, I record music in a home studio, have successfully configured mics for every other game fine, but BF2 just doesn't want to work.
I would like to thank all those who participated in the Official BF2 Radio Shack Day. Over 600,000 microphones were purchased and a Radio Shack representative called me personally to thank me for the event. See (hear) you all on the battlefield...

Great thanks to you, now in addition to the screech of 2- ex wives in my ears, I will have an additional 600,000 11 year old kids with high pitched voices to listen to also.
Anyone got some extra Excedrin or Tylenol they can lend me.
You convinced me to get (another) one. The only downside with mics is that people think they have to tell their squad their life's story every 5 seconds.
Still, a fully functioning squad with VOIP is awesome.
I got one with my preorder. Very cheap, very much ***. Not bad for a free headset though, I suppose.
There's no way to describe how happy I feel when I join a random squad in a random server and find out that the squadmembers are all communicating via voice. Everybody should get a mic, it's essential if you are a team player.
hahahaha i have that exact same headset except i went and bought mine from a shop.
Still, a fully functioning squad with VOIP is awesome.
Since you can mute any one who is talking too much (even a commander who is a micro-manager), I don't find it too annoying. The game is much more enjoyable when your squad is giving relevant information to everyone about your current situation.
