So I was cruising wiki.bf2s.com and I came across this.

Though using grenade launcher on people point blank is generally frowned upon. Unless you are using it in one of the situations described in lenght above, you should keep the assault rifle out. Nothing is more annoying then confronting someone to have him switch to a grenade launcher and blow you away without so much of a fight from him. If you run into someone that is firing bullets at you, answer with bullets, its very unsportsmanlike to then blow the other guy away with the grenade launcher.

I almost started laughing. I do this type of thing daily, it's probably my favorite thing to do and convenient given all the fish floppers....I mean who doesn't fish flop.... easy answer...the GL flops fish.


So do you frown upon people who use the GL at close range?

Seeing as how you have to stop, crouch for a couple seconds, then fire a grenade and MAYBE hit them 20 feet away, no, it doesnt matter to me.

It's far more difficult to hit a person at close-range, than at medium-range with the Grenade Launcher when shooting down at the ground, due to the annoying bounce effect of the grenades themselves.

I personally shoot it at walls and ledges to counter-act that bounce effect when in very close range to an enemy. Of course, this can also back-fire and lead to me dying, even if I jump right after firing.

People are only bitter about the Grenade Launcher because of bad memories of 1.12. If the Blackhawk was still capable of killing people; I'm sure people would still whine about that too.

Grenades are easier to use, than Grenade Launchers.

i think anything that kills me sucks......GLs are cheap, nades are lame, clays are ghey, artillery is unfairs, bombs are lame, bullets are noob and anything else that makes me go dead is no funsies.......even fall damage is oh noes.....

lol on a serious note, i dont think anything is really cheap....there is a way to counter, or even better yet, avoid anything that makes u go dead....so umm...yeahs

using the GL on close range is a tactic. as a matter of fact, a pretty good one. so unless EA fixes it, abuse it! its not against any rules! kill people on close range! KILL KILL KILL!

Play Unreal Tournament - ZERO whiners. There's a few h4x0rz but they're dealt with.

TFC is also a nice game...

Or just play on different servers...

Its a cheap weapon to use when just running around corners and as bf2 is loosely based on realism you would never walk around a corner and shoot a gl at the floor in real life, to be honest i dont really mind getting killed by them but most of the time you would be better off with a gun
