Sure, I can. Since the game is not supposed to be realistic, then anything should go right?

I do use it. It doesn't change the fact that I think it's stupid that I can do so.

I think we agree. I'm not arguing realism, I'm arguing 'believability'. I think you understand where I'm coming from now

real snipers dont just stay in one spot... they move around alot even though it doesnt seem like it since it takes them like 1 hour to move 70 yards

Re: what kind of sniper are you?

Movement will draw attention. So less movement is win.

Seeing as PR jumped on the Designated Marksman (or Designated Rifleman) role IRL & Vanilla BF2 I think it is fair to say that both types of Snipers (the other being Sniper Scout) are equally important ingame.

I prefer the more laidback style of the Scout Sniper. Taking out targets according to their impact on the situation at hand that I am monitoring.

If an AA site is manned by the enemy and a chopper of my team is moving into that general area to give fire support to ground forces, it is my objective to take out the AA guy.

If nothing is happening atm I will work down the list of important targets; enemy snipers, fixed AA, fixed AT, stationary DPV/FAV/Vodnik, etc...

Checking in on the current situation on the Overview map will tell you where your forces are moving to & what CP's you have. If you played the game long enough you should be able to anticipate what will happen next. Moving to the next position beforehand AND doing this without getting caught while displacing is probably the hardest skill to master.

I rush forward as if I had an assault rifle. I couldn't give a shi* about stats and find camping way too boring. I storm the front no matter what kit I have.

a ''reall'' sniper aint like that, a sniper shoots (wich MUST be a kill) then moves stealthy to a difrent position.. a sniper doesnt camp.. only for a hard objective.. (like sniping an vietnamese general in Vietnam, a sniper waited for 3 days moving a few INCHES a time.. he didnt eat.. then after the 3rd day the general came out of his barack and stretched out.. the sniper squeezed the trigger and it was a kill, he inmediatly moved to the ''extraction'' zone and gotten out of there)

a good sniper is like this

                  ''waits, spots, observes, shoots, moves''

I used to snipe all the time when I 1st started playing the game, but got bored pretty quickly in the vehicle servers, better to be one in IO.

I was more of a get a few kills and move sniper otherwise your toast

Problem with IO is claymore whores, get's a bit tiresome killing a few only to walk round a corner and bam your a gonna

Support now for me I only switch to sniper by picking up a kit and laying some claymores then back to support! If you can't beat them join em I say

If you quote stuff about Carlos Hathcock you should do it properly or stay the hell away from it.

On which channel was this documentary? I live in the same country as you so I must have missed it.

Moreover you shouldnt take in everything the TV dishes out. I have one of the books on Hathcock here on my bookshelf. Notable differences are about the location of the incident (either Laos or Vietnam); the distance covered (1500 yards over open terrain for a 800 yards kill); he made the kill on the 4th day; he didnt run straight to the recovery point, but crawled via a gully to the jungle's edge; he hooked up with a platoon that brought him to an extraction zone.
