Re: Looking for a heli buddy.

I added you to my list, and will keep an eye out for you. Flying with a good team is way, way more fun than soloing. I have said it before, and still think soloing just plain sux. I quit reading sloi's posts a long time ago. Soloing vs team has been an argument on here many times, and there are just some people that like soloing better. No fault in that, I guess its just a preference. I like helos to the point I will do whichever, just to be up there. I do just fine at soloing, but to prefer it? ...no way. Argue as you may, nothing is better than teamwork. If I had to bet on who would win, the worlds best solo pilot, vs the worlds best pilot-gunner team, I'd put my money on the team.

1.Sounds like someone has done the c4 thing to you before, liked it eh?Redlining in many servers, gets a nice little ban stat to your stats page. It real cool watching the redliners helicopter crask as you finish booting him/her. It does in ours and many others. Play single player if your dislike teamwork.

So in this conflict the guy with less shame wins.

A very stupid sentence, may I add. I dont expect anything, but if I feel like it, I will fight for my chance to fly it. Because if I wont fight, I can bet noone will give the chance to me and my gunner just because they feel generous. So. Nothing personal. But if I want to fly, I will throw you overboard.

Conside this. When I used to play BF2, I used to get only bad gunners and bad pilots. And whenever my gunner friends were online, thanks to jackasses who didnt give us a chance, we RARELY got the chopper. If there were pros flying it, by all means. But no. Just morons.

Bingo. Unfortunately GOOD helo buddies dont die 16 times in a row. The ****munches who I have no problem with being taken to the red line do. Remember, the nice guys finish last. Back when I had this one great gunner to fly with, we used to know 2 spots where from we could get the helo as we spawned. I didnt teamkill, redline, I just waited for my turn. And if we didnt get the helo, we surely got it the next time. When I had a gunner that didnt know the tricks, I started to NEVER have a chance to fly with any good gunner. So I stopped being a mr nice guy, and when I really wanted to fly, I asked first, then gave a chance, and then redlined.

And who the **** are you to tell me what and what not to do? I dont want to run through countless of gunners just to find out that every single one of them sucked. Ive done that, Im tired. I remember this one case where I spent 6 hours in a server trying to find a gunner/pilot. I started hating choppers then. I didnt want to redline, I couldnt solo (weak PC), and I was a gentleman. F*ck that. You want a chance to gun? You miss your first shot or plink a tank, youre gone. Go to SP.

No, but teamkilling aside I will do everything I can to MAKE it mine.

Those are also the guys that are on my "go to the sunset with me" menu.

        In a sense you do.

        Try "Duck and Cover".

I'm not entirely sure as to why you're antagonising me, but I'll point out why you've missed the point:

"On one hand, we have a moron who thinks its cool to ruin the fun for the whole 32 people on his team by negating them from the most powerful asset. Even if he IS a good gunner, how the hell can the pilot be sure? If the pilot is alone, I could understand, but if the pilot has a dedicated gunner- GTFO plz."

Sounds like you assume I'm soloing. I'm not. I expect to be able to get a go in a heli at any stage of the game, provided there is a chopper waiting to respawn. I have no right to tell people to get out of a helicopter they're already in, neither do you.

"how the hell can the pilot be sure?" - See, that's the problem. Most people I see with heli-buddies will hop on a random server, and attempt to guarantee a good run, at the expense of the regulars on that server, by hogging the heli. On the servers I play, I have about 5-6 people I know I can definitely fly and gun for, and these 5-6 people are usually whoring the helicopters anyway.

What I mean to say is, I hate people who simply hop on a server, hog the helicopter, die 16 times in a row and will redline/tk/c4 to get the heli every time. If you die more than 3-6 times due to sheer lack of skill, and there have been people waiting on the heli pad each time, you've forfeited your right to play, because with that many deaths, you've either got a really tight game, meaning this argument wouldn't exist, or, wait for it, you're DEPRIVING YOUR TEAM OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ASSET.

"But if I want to fly, I will throw you overboard." - Again, putting your own fun before others ruins the whole game. Confucius say, don't be an ******* - otherwise you will be an *******.

"Conside this. When I used to play BF2, I used to get only bad gunners and bad pilots. And whenever my gunner friends were online, thanks to jackasses who didnt give us a chance, we RARELY got the chopper. If there were pros flying it, by all means. But no. Just morons."

Did you not notice that 90% of the time these "jackasses who didn't give [you] a chance" were trying to get their boyfriends to ride with them?

"If there were pros flying it, by all means." - Why agree with me yet antagonise?

"So I stopped being a mr nice guy, and when I really wanted to fly, I asked first, then gave a chance, and then redlined." - That's what happens if you don't play in a regular server. You can't just go into any server, grab the helicopter, and claim it as yours, every server has x number of regulars that also want their slice of the pie.

"And who the **** are you to tell me what and what not to do? I dont want to run through countless of gunners just to find out that every single one of them sucked. Ive done that, Im tired. F*ck that. You want a chance to gun? You miss your first shot or plink a tank, youre gone. Go to SP."

Who am I? Someone who paid an equal amount for the same product, who has the same rights and who has the same freedoms in the game, and who has an equal right to the helicopter. I think you'll find, in this case, you don't have twice the right to the helicopter I do. Maybe in an unranked. Where you paid for the slot.

"You want a chance to gun? You miss your first shot or plink a tank, youre gone. Go to SP."

I've seen the most skillfull of gunners and pilots miss several shots in a row. Are you going to redline them?

"Those are also the guys that are on my "go to the sunset with me" menu."

        Agreeing yet disagreeing...

"In a sense you do." - Absolutely unfounded statement. If I said anything counter to it, disregard it. Read:

Most of the servers I play on have an unwritten rule - everyone has an equal chance at grabbing a vehicle, but if you repeatedly die or crash and keep coming back for it, and expect people to get out of your way, you can go choke on a phallus. It's like PRMM, except that it's not built into the game directly. I have no problem with "heli buddies" that last an entire round with 1, 2 or even 3 deaths, but when these morons get it and die 16 times in a row, they should f*ck off and practice offline.
"Try "Duck and Cover." - Shall do. When I don't have 6 months worth of work to finish in 3 days.

From my POV, if we were to somehow hop on a server and meet, it would ideally be like this:

You get the pilot seat, I get into the gunner seat. Your gunner waits, or does something else. You do not spam "get out" in chat. You do not redline either, because a) there is an admin on and b) you'd be a cocknosed arsehole to do so. You ride on, just as you would with your normal gunner. Now we find a tank, you line me up, I miss, you DO NOT redline, you line me up again, and so on, until the ammo is depleted.

Why? Because unless you're cheating, you have no idea how your lineups are affected by ping - they could be half a screen away or more. You have no idea of where my client sees the hitboxes either - so you line me up again, and again. Suppose we die in the process, and I've missed every shot or close to, then I won't go to the heli, simple as that. But if we've died and I've hit every ****, got a new kill streak and what-not, you bet your *** I'm getting back in, and your gunner will have to wait - it's a public server. This is exactly how I fly, and whether or not my gunner could hit the broadside of a barn, I couldn't care less. I don't need to ride with an aimbot to have fun.

In other words, either I do good and last the whole round, or I do **** and last 5 minutes at most.

        Now compare with your scenario:

I get into the heli as gunner, you get in as pilot, spam get out through the chat. I don't, of course, because this is a server I regularly play on and that sort of **** doesn't go. Now either you go to the sunset & redline, i.e. act like a dickhead, plain and simple, no euphemisms needed to disguise it, and get kicked and banned, and I have a free soloing run courtesy of your *******-ness, which is very hard to get in a 64 player, or we carry on, I miss the first TV shot, you redline, get kicked, and guess what! I get another free solo run!

Awesome. Your situation is exactly how it would be if dA! didn't have their own server to kick people from.

          1. Well, I have 250+ hours in helos, may have happened once or twice before, but it's not something remarkable. Anyways I've vowed to not redline or M95 TK for choppers again (unless they did it to me - or put C4s on the helo like you said) and I've been keeping my word.

          2. This doesn't make it less stupid.

              1. Good, it sounds like your doing the right thing. I only suggested the C4 idea, because I think there is nothing more destructive to a team than a person killing them purposely.

              2. Its happening bro, and your right, it doesn't make it less stupid for anyone that thinks it is in the first place.

Okay, this thread is about getting a buddy to use teamwork in a chopper.

Now do you REALLY F****** THINK a noob in a chopper is going to add me to xfire??? Honestly!!!

You guys that want me to solo WHY ARE YOU IN THIS THREAD!?????!?! Why don't you go to a trailer park and start yelling WALMART SUCKS!!!!

I'm gonna start a thread tittled "SNIPERS ONLY" and see how many other kit players go into bash it because of what noobs have done with a sniper.

You guys REALLY need to learn to learn that people play other ways.

                and another thing

I won't expound on the merits of an efficient soloer with the ability to chaingun. When I'm practically eliminating 90+% of enemy air and ground/armored assets, is it really that difficult for infantry to fight enemy soldiers? Seriously, you might as well come right out and say it: "we want you to do everything for us!" Yes, a lot of us can chaingun alone, but it's usually a waste of time to deal with your petty infantry problems when enemy helicopters, APCs and tanks are re-spawning and pose a bigger threat. Asking your helicopter crew or soloers to concentrate on soldiers is stupid.

I play the game with a meritocratic system in mind. I will gladly give up my spot in the helicopter if a more competent player comes along: however, I will never give up my spot in the helicopter if a less competent player comes along, no matter how long he's been waiting for the seat. Yeah, I'm an @sshole.

Perspective :p , in this thread, youre the bad man, Im the good man.

Sounds like you assume I'm soloing. I'm not. I expect to be able to get a go in a heli at any stage of the game, provided there is a chopper waiting to respawn. I have no right to tell people to get out of a helicopter they're already in, neither do you.
Which is the reason I said that the word YOU was in GENERAL. Soloer or not. I have no right to tell people to get out? Man, "GET THE F*CK OUT!" key was coded into the commo rose. Looks like I have every right to ask people to leave the chopper. Its their choice whether or not they will comply. And then its my choice whether or not to do something about it. Besides, if I take the chopper first, shouldnt I have the right to the chopper? Gunners seat or not, first come first serve.

See, that's the problem.
Youre contradicting yourself. Youre talking about an equal chance to take the helo and youre talking about regulars. These two shouldnt even be on the same page. Im also the kind of guy who only visits a server at once, maybe 2 at the most. I like being a regular, I like to know the guys I play with. It makes more fun. And, I gladly give away my seat to the regular chopper pilots. HOWEVER, I do this out of being a gentleman. They arent hogging the jets I fly, I return the favour. But I always know, that if I ask them to, they would give me a chance to fly a little, as I would give them a chance to fly a jet. Hell, I would even land it for someone who asks nicely.

On the other hand. If I hop into a server randomly, I do not care about whether or not youre a regular. Youre all the same to me. These rules of gentlemen exist between themselves only. Do not expect a stranger to follow them. Since theres only 1-2 helos, the guy with the least shame goes furthest.

No arguments whatsoever. But arent you really contradicting yourself here again? Whether or not he dies, he has a chance to get the helo again as he has paid for it. If youre going to start counting times hes been hogging it, and apply the "hes paid for it" logic, you will lose. And I will call my lawyer to cash in for damages.

Again, putting your own fun before others ruins the whole game. Confucius say, don't be an ******* - otherwise you will be an *******.
Confucius was an as5clown. And youre an as5clown if you assume Im one. Im putting my own fun before others because Im not a saint. I do not even consider for a second that anyone would put MY fun in before others. I will not TK for any asset. I keep my behaviour in check aswell as my language. But when I feel like flying choppers WITH a friend, and I get the pilots seat, and you wont budge. Youre off. The fact that I RARELY fly/flew choppers really means that Ive redlined probably about 10 or so people. And even then there was a protocol involved. The one you failed to describe in your scenarios.

Did you not notice that 90% of the time these "jackasses who didn't give [you] a chance" were trying to get their boyfriends to ride with them?
Nope. 90% of those jackasses were random newbies who wanted to try to gun. A few were seasoned copilots I simply didnt want to fly for because I had my own gunner and a few, just a few were the other couple who wanted to fly, and didnt aknowledge that I had the pilots seat.

Why agree with me yet antagonise?
Because youre constantly contradicting yourself and are playing on both sides?

That's what happens if you don't play in a regular server. You can't just go into any server, grab the helicopter, and claim it as yours, every server has x number of regulars that also want their slice of the pie.
Every server has an X number of PLAYERS I dont give a rats as5 about who want the slice of the pie. And that X number of pilots dont give a sh!t about me either. Its up to me to A) never try any asset because Im a nice guy or B) fight for my slice and keep the collateral damage to the minimum. I was A, now I dont really mind if people are B. Plus, regular or not, youre all the same. To EA, to God and to me.

Who am I? Someone who paid an equal amount for the same product, who has the same rights and who has the same freedoms in the game, and who has an equal right to the helicopter. I think you'll find, in this case, you don't have twice the right to the helicopter I do. Maybe in an unranked. Where you paid for the slot.
Actually, if you want to play by the "I paid for the product" rule. You should already accept that youve lost. Hell, by this logic wed be counting the time anyone has used the chopper. Fvck Sloi! Hes been hogging that Cobra for X hours now! Stop him, let me fly now! Hes got his moneys worth!

No. You paid for the right to ENTER the server. You didnt pay for flying the chopper. You and me will duke it out and whos more of an as5hole, will get it. Thats how it works. If you choose to not to be one, more power to you. But when I feel like flying a chopper once every few weeks for once, I am not really interested in waiting 6 hours until I can get a chance to fly with my friend. No sir.

I've seen the most skillfull of gunners and pilots miss several shots in a row. Are you going to redline them?
If they show attitude when I ask them to leave nicely, yes.

You forgot the part where you die 15 seconds after takeoff in a helo vs helo duel because your gunner was an incompetent newbie.

Why? Because unless you're cheating, you have no idea how your lineups are affected by ping - they could be half a screen away or more.
Now thats a lot of steaming pile of BS. Youre basically saying that I can never be sure that Im lining the gunner up properly. Guess what, properly doesnt mean a straight zeroed head on shot. Thats why the missiles are GUIDED. Im giving the gunner the most optimal shot chance, and hes going to do the rest. If he cant, hes a lousy gunner. Period. And even with a 150 ms ping DIFFERENCE between the pilot and the copilot, the only negative thing would be lag.

You have no idea of where my client sees the hitboxes either - so you line me up again, and again.
Actually I do see it. Youre saying that if I line you up, the target may not be in your POV? I have yet to see that happen, or hear for that matter. Dont be so desperate.

I have fun from the TS convo, the teamwork from my friend and the TRUST in my gunner. Otherwise I may aswell just solo.

Not likely. I fly with my nose pointed into the ground at minimum altitude so youd likely to crash. Fail in both scenarios. I act like a dickhead if you act like a dickhead. No need to twist it in any direction. You fail to aknowledge that me and my bud will do better for the whole team than with you, and you stay in the chopper. So when you get redlined youre offended. What should I feel when Im flying for someone I simply do not have fun to fly for? Leave the chopper to you? Just so when you die you can crawl back? F*ck no. Be a dickhead and I will get it all back to you tenfold.

Awesome. Your situation is exactly how it would be if dA! didn't have their own server to kick people from.
And youre probably working for the Bush administration because the "scenario" you wrote up is a waste of electricity.

                      Heres what I do.

                      A. I dont have a gunner.

Well take off, if you plink at the chopper with the cannon- I will redline you or crash us.
If you use wrong weaponry at a target thus showing your incompetence- I will redline you, or crash us.
If I see you using the RIGHT weaponry- I will give you as much chances as you need to. If we die, and you hop in again, Im going to exit and do something else.

                      B. I have a dedicated gunner.

Youre most likely going to be redlined or crashed if youre not going to budge.

That's a lot of text, are you sure he'll read it all? Watch: it's going to be a one-sentence reply...

Guess how long it took me to type it up?

Soloing kills the entire game.. People like you kill it, because one day some idiot decided that he'd start doing that crap.. Helicopters were alot more fun when it was just us pilots who actually had skill killed each other with the dumb-fire rockets. Explain to me how it requires skill to switch out of the chopper guide down safely to your target and blow it up, the entire time having all the adjustments... One of the top 13 or was top 13 Immunity actually quit playing BF2 because of that... Every server theirs even noobs who do it, and they hit stuff easily. Its like the J-10 you have no defense if the target is 200 feet above you guiding rockets onto you.

Soloing and even TVing to some point requires hardly any skill. Float 300 feet in the air and guide your rocket down onto a target. TV missiles should not effect other air vehicles, they are Anti Armor Missiles, find me a video of an apache in real life blowing up another helo with one. I guess if one was sitting still on the ground but as far as in mid air nah that is bs, and its lame. IGLA's and Mobile AA missiles deal little damage to armor so why should a TV guided missile be able to deal damage to a air craft vehicle.

Serious Soloing is completely for people who want to rack up on points... I got about 12-14k of my kills with dumbfire rockets in vanilla, and a lot of them were infantry, and other helicopters, back before people discovered how to use the TV Guided Missile properly... Whom ever started the whole trend is a moron...

Anyone out there like the guy who posted who actually enjoys gunning, and being a gunner in the sense they aren't all about kills, my xfire is on here hit me up.

I didn't mean to sound an ***. The reasoning behind alot of soloing is also the lack of decent players. People with ranks lower then Captain should not be allowed to fly in my opinion. If you want to fly go to SP, I think it should be an options to allow officers only to fly, On or Off.

I hate *** hats who get in it, die, get in it , die get in it die.. .I mean I've seen people who call themselves chopper teams suck. What do I do, that no one has yet to mention in this thread? I join the other team and grab the chopper their, and if I can't get it I will eventually get it and kill the other guys who can't fly, over and over. Redlining is not acceptable because if your a good pilot you don't need a gunner anyway. You can use the dumb-fire and do it all yourself. Learning the art of circle strafing with those missiles is key, and the truth is very people can actually do that..
