sure, add me on xfire : Neptune15 . As long as the server is in north america, and player-plentiful, im in.

and please stay on topic, the soloers vs teamworkers debate will never come to a conclusion.

Agreed with the posters that support teamworking.

IMHO there is nothing cooler than working with your helo buddy... setting them up for a shot, telling them about enemies...

Soloing IMHO is good in a helo vs helo fights only.

I met some ridiculously annoying three-striped players with far less than 20 hours in the game, who were hogging the helis and ruining everyone else's experience (we were getting baseraped purely because of them), which is what brought me to saying this.

        "TEAMWORK = FUN"

Team-killing, when the whole server degenerates into a TK fest is also fun :p

Soloing isn't an ideal solution, but at least you save time looking for a gunner :P
I know exactly what you are saying and i think you know exactly what i am pointing at.
I think were getting a little to deep here....
My point of posting here is to say, Teamwork is fun, the way the game was meant to be played. I would much rather have fun with a half decent pilot/gunner than rack up a few more kills becuase of my (not me) leet solo skills.
Dont get me wrong i have done some time solo, but would much prefer playing with a m8
For me VOIP and TS is what has kept me playing BF2
I just think promoting soloing is wrong.
Its just WRONG.... and thats me done

wow. i ask for someone to fly with and i get my head bashed in.

you know people DO play different ways. i thought someone might have noticed this by now.

if you came in here just to tell me to solo, stfu. why would i make a thread named "Looking for a heli buddy" if i want to be told to solo?

If you join a public server and expect to have runs with your boyfriend every time, you're playing the wrong game.

Not saying any of you lot do this, just had to say that the concept of "heli buddies" sometimes leads to this.
If youre having fun at my expense, I will redline you. I love flying with a gunner and Id rather play with a "gunner buddy" than with someone I know jack**** about and whos probably going to suck major ***. When I ask politely and you dont budge, expect a ride into the sunset.

I have no respect for inconsiderate people, on another turn, if YOU happen to get into the chopper first and ask me out, Ill pack my bags. Or if I see YOU with a FRIEND waiting for the ride. I will wait for my turn.

                  (you - generally speaking).

The problem is that it's a conflict between my fun, and your fun. It really depends on the servers, like I say, I wouldn't care if someone hogs something on a server I don't usually go on, and I'm not going to get in their way either, but when people come to the kind of servers that I play on, which have a group of around 32 regular people, and just cause trouble, it ruins the gameplay for everyone.

"I love flying with a gunner and Id rather play with a "gunner buddy" than with someone I know jack**** about and whos probably going to suck major ***."

Do you hop onto random servers with a "gunner buddy" and expect to seriously own the helicopter and have it all to yourself?

Most of the servers I play on have an unwritten rule - everyone has an equal chance at grabbing a vehicle, but if you repeatedly die or crash and keep coming back for it, and expect people to get out of your way, you can go choke on a phallus. It's like PRMM, except that it's not built into the game directly. I have no problem with "heli buddies" that last an entire round with 1, 2 or even 3 deaths, but when these morons get it and die 16 times in a row, they should f*ck off and practice offline.

"When I ask politely and you dont budge, expect a ride into the sunset."

See, that's the problem. If you're telling someone who's just joined a server and who you don't know as to whether they are good or not, you don't f*cking redline them. The helicopter is NOT yours for exclusive use, unless maybe it's an unranked server and you paid for that right. The majority of butt-buddies I see can't actually fly the heli for ****, but will happily redline just to get their boyfriends in with them.

Notice I have no problem with those who survive?

On one hand, we have a moron who thinks its cool to ruin the fun for the whole 32 people on his team by negating them from the most powerful asset. Even if he IS a good gunner, how the hell can the pilot be sure? If the pilot is alone, I could understand, but if the pilot has a dedicated gunner- GTFO plz.

So in this conflict the guy with less shame wins.

Do you hop onto random servers with a "gunner buddy" and expect to seriously own the helicopter and have it all to yourself?
A very stupid sentence, may I add. I dont expect anything, but if I feel like it, I will fight for my chance to fly it. Because if I wont fight, I can bet noone will give the chance to me and my gunner just because they feel generous. So. Nothing personal. But if I want to fly, I will throw you overboard.

Conside this. When I used to play BF2, I used to get only bad gunners and bad pilots. And whenever my gunner friends were online, thanks to jackasses who didnt give us a chance, we RARELY got the chopper. If there were pros flying it, by all means. But no. Just morons.

I have no problem with "heli buddies" that last an entire round with 1, 2 or even 3 deaths, but when these morons get it and die 16 times in a row, they should f*ck off and practice offline.
Bingo. Unfortunately GOOD helo buddies dont die 16 times in a row. The ****munches who I have no problem with being taken to the red line do. Remember, the nice guys finish last. Back when I had this one great gunner to fly with, we used to know 2 spots where from we could get the helo as we spawned. I didnt teamkill, redline, I just waited for my turn. And if we didnt get the helo, we surely got it the next time. When I had a gunner that didnt know the tricks, I started to NEVER have a chance to fly with any good gunner. So I stopped being a mr nice guy, and when I really wanted to fly, I asked first, then gave a chance, and then redlined.

"When I ask politely and you dont budge, expect a ride into the sunset."

See, that's the problem. If you're telling someone who's just joined a server and who you don't know as to whether they are good or not, you don't f*cking redline them.
And who the **** are you to tell me what and what not to do? I dont want to run through countless of gunners just to find out that every single one of them sucked. Ive done that, Im tired. I remember this one case where I spent 6 hours in a server trying to find a gunner/pilot. I started hating choppers then. I didnt want to redline, I couldnt solo (weak PC), and I was a gentleman. F*ck that. You want a chance to gun? You miss your first shot or plink a tank, youre gone. Go to SP.

The helicopter is NOT yours for exclusive use
No, but teamkilling aside I will do everything I can to MAKE it mine.

The majority of butt-buddies I see can't actually fly the heli for ****, but will happily redline just to get their boyfriends in with them.
Those are also the guys that are on my "go to the sunset with me" menu.

Notice I have no problem with those who survive?
                      In a sense you do.

Care to expand? I've never seen a soloer chaingun more than 5 infantry at once.

Hell no. Can you dodge and guide a TV missile at the same time? How well can you do a range game alone?
A crew will almost certainly beat the soloer, provided both pilot and gunner are as skilled as the soloer, that is.

This is not true. Everybody knows the most powerful asset is the jet and they have 1 seat, or can work well with 1 seat when it's a bomber. I am talking about "sheer power" here, meaning ability to kill unchallenged, not the ability to push the enemy and win the game.

                        NO NO and NO!

Sloi i respect you are good at soloing and respect it is ok (only in the right situation) but going about insinuating soloing is the way to go IS WRONG!
Some of us actually want to play as a team, even if we are not l33t like you, we want to play the game as it was meant to be played!

                        TEAMWORK!!!!! = FUN
Partially agreed. Although having a noob pilot or gunner that gets us killed several times in a row is far from my concept of "fun", a skilled chopper mate can be more fun than soloing.

The server I play in (FullContactWar) has a line system, so if I get with a noob I just hop out and wait for my turn and I can go with my chopper buddy without having to teamkill or redline.

I support having a partner - as long as he is skilled enough to be more deadly than my solo. It's all about efficiency.

Then why are you even standing up and quoting me? You know what I meant when I used the word "most powerful". If were going to go down and start debating again you will once again be proven wrong.

Keep the jet pilot busy and the chopper will win the game. Period.

                              1. Be Spec Ops, place C4 on heli before getting in as gunner. If pilot starts bitching or goes to redline you, jump out and kill him.Drastic, but so is killing a team mate because your not a team player. Do this once or twice and he may get the point.

                              2. You will find plenty of servers which encourages teamplay and bans soloing/seat switching in helicopters and bombers.

                                1. If I see a gunner placing a C4 on the heli, I will fly him to a remote location in the map, where there is only water and redline him. If he ever gets out, he will have to swim half the round to be able to detonate it. By then I couldve destroyed the helo and got a new one.

                                2. Lame servers.
