Lol at people hating on Bf2142, most of you probably haven't even given it a good go. It's actually quite good but no, it won't take over Bf2 as like other people said, it's not as popular.

However, it's still good and i won't have some idiot who has never played it before tell me different.

Yeah it's a good game, but BF2 is still better, at least in my opinion.

2142 needed more development time and more content.

Giving it a good go would require me to pay EA 50$ for a mod of a game that is better.

For me BF2142 is superior to BF2 in almost every aspect. The graphics are much more slick and polished with antialiased transparency making a huge differences for things like fences and foliage.
Also..they nailed the infantry combat this time through. In BF2 while still great fun infantry combat is essentially at least half-broken. When you encounter an enemy its whoever drops to his belly first wins. In 2142 you have to decide if you want stay up for worst aim but highest mobility...if you want to crouch for imediatly improved aim and reduced mobility or if you want to go prone and take an imediate hit in aim precision until it narrows down again over time with the advantage of a reduced profile.
This how it should have been in BF2 from the start and that alone makes BF2142 win out clearly.

For some reason when i played 2142 i became a APM spam whorer and just sat in the titan corridor number one and placed my 2 APM's down and a RDX demo pack down and just racked up the points.

2142 is basically a mod of bf2... end of story.
there is no variety in it whatsoever, and they didn't even manage to balance the gunships (hint, j10 and f35)

ROFLMAO. And this is better in which way exactly? If anything, it DUMBED DOWN close quarters combat giving people 2 choices. A) strafe or B) crouch. Thats it. While in BF2 you had to HIT the diver if you chose to strafe, and the target you were about to shoot had high mobility. Which one takes more skill? Considering that both of these games are purely arcadeish, BF2142 loses in demand for skill department. Its infantry combat is sluggish, slow and restricting. As the soldiers wearing uncomfortable gear, the feeling was actually transferred to the movement, making the game a pain in the *** in infantry combat. While BF2 was (was) fluid and fast. BF2 infantry combat is HALF broken because whiners wanted so. BF2142 infantry combat is totally wrecked. And Xfire TOP10 list clearly shows whats the deal here.

2142 does not feel like the future... BF2, in the beginning at least, made me feel like I was fighting... 2142 just makes you feel like a random character in some fictional setting.

2142 has dropped off Xfire's top 10, while BF2 is still holding its position.

I attribute it to the fact that 2142 just gets boring after a while. There's two types of maps - grey and brown. No colour variety whatsoever. 2142 has 12 vehicles, 6 for each team. The only one that's really unique between the teams is the tank...the other vehicles, you barely notice the difference because they're basically the same.

BF2 has 28 vehicles! And they all have their own unique characteristics - you can clearly tell the difference between US/MEC/PLA APCs and other vehicles. Also, the maps in BF2 look beautiful and there's a lot of variety.

All in all, it's pretty obvious that 2142 was thrown together for the extra money. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good game, but IMO it's not worth $50. If they would've spent an extra half-year or so in development, there's no doubt that 2142 would have been awesome. Trying to beat Quake Wars was so stupid, considering that now it's been pushed back so far that lots of people will probably switch straight from 2142 to QW.

Good thing there are some mod teams working on stuff for 2142. Content is what it needs the most. When someone gets all the unlocks and plays up to Supreme General Commander of the Glorious Make Benefit of Kazakhstan or whatever the top rank is, I would imagine the game becomes rather monotonous.
