Snipers seem to be able to....well...**** things up.

I wanted to know if anyone agreed with this theory.

In the event that one side is losing a battle, the tide can easily be turned by placing 2 snipers hidden within enemy frontline flag and 2 hidden within enemy main(fields n crap u know)

Im guessing that people will do what they do best and get some sort of weird patriotic feeling by finding and killing you(instead of bunnyhopping to safety) thereby diverting troops, also (this is why m95 does not suck and those who can wield it are VERY valuable) with an m95 you can stop jets/choppers from taking off, or if you dont have one you could stop them from getting in but there are likely bunnyhopping.

I've seen this to be true in many instances, here are 2.

Mashtuur city, I was doing SL in chopper thing until I was shot down, My squad Immediately went to resecure south gas, hard fighting, when we took it we waited for blackhawk to spawn, but we where sniped at, one sniper with SVD one with m95.The chopper spawned(I had not yet realized one had an m95) and i got in, i was quickly shot out, meanwhile my squad is in a panic saying hes over there or there, the snipers where shooting and moving very good teamplay on their part, they caused havoc until the commander spotted them out. In all we spent about five minutes in chaos trying to find them, those 2 snipers kept a full 6 man squad, a 3-4 squad, about 3-4 lone wolves, and a chopper away from the battlefield and got more than 15 kills.
    we lost that round.

Another situation was on wake, I bailed from my f35b at 600 and fell until i was BARELY not on the ground then chuted, I hid in the trees left of field and scored a headshot, I was then spotted, I killed the guy that found me then ran to a small sandbag bunker farther left of airfield(i chose it because of its rooftop, commander arty=snipers worst enemy) I put a clay in front and got in unseen, For about ten minutes I kept shooting and made nine kills, The commander called arty but the rooftop saved me, he spotted me but apparently the infantry where spacing out because they where still in a panic, it was the z10 that got me, it strafed the area where i was spotted until it finally came to a low hover in front of me and whacked me with a TV guided.

    the round ended 1-0
I managed to keep about 5 players off the field for ten minutes and then z10 off for 1 minute.

I think this is what sniping is all about, although city sniping often requires in combat shooting if you can hide you can chnage the course of a battle by suppressing infantry and vehicles.

In the past people have said in guides that hiding is essential(we know), what im suggesting is that even in 32 v 32 a 1-3 snipers can create confusion among a few spawn points, keep aircraft down and diverting commander attention only for about 2-5 minutes and not have to do it again because the advantage will have effects farther down the battle, maybe you can even have a buddy steal a jet/chopper.

    Comments on my theory.

I agree with most of what you said.

I found when me and one of my friends get together and get behind enemy lines as snipers, we can cause mass confusion and sometimes, people are afraid to get into helicopters/planes.

Yea. With that gun when you get hit it doesn't do damage like a sniper so they may not specifically look for you. :)

Wow, now that i think of it, i usually dont expect much STEALTH success with svd, but i get it anyway, that must be why.

              thanks

Re: Snipers seem to be able to....well...**** things up.

On the other side of that everyone knows that haveing to many snipers almost gives the game to the other team.

Also, if you are a sniper and you want to do the most that you can to help your team, please, spot everything you can. This is also an important part of what a sniper does, well the other kits to. Ive played sniper on maps where our UAV stayed destroyed for most of the round but it didnt matter because another sniper and I kept spotting everything.

Another thing, on maps with armor and attack choppers(i.e. Sharqi) spot the attack choppers. Ive been killed several times in the T-90 just because the attack chopper wasnt spotted and I didnt know it was lineing me up for the TV shot. When I know its there I will try and take it down. In a Tank I stand a 50% chance of shooting it down if I know its there. I shot down 3 last week. Its not easy but with the skill level of most pilots these days. It can be done.
Okay back on topic. If you decide to play sniper dont think that thats the only kit that you can use. The round progression often requires that you play another kit if you want your team to get the win. Dont be afraid to change kits, if needed. Good Luck. . . . . . . . .Red

                  True.

                  I actually spot anything I can't kill

I played wake yesterday as comamnder, I got bored so i got my m95, got in f35b and bailed over china's field.
I hid in the trees under a bush and had an AWSOME TIME, because I was actually there seeing the targets I was artying It was a better use because I could see the target and think "is that really worth an arty strike or should I just snipe it?" Whenever I was found I killed the person that spotted me, left a clay and moved, for FIVE minutes the z10 and j10 didnt get off the ground and soon enough the j10 that was in the air started strafing the GENERAL area I was In (some spec ops guy had blown their scan and for reasons ill never know they didnt fix it) I took only headshots and got 13 kills, eventually I was found, althoguh i killed him he had spotted me out, the j10 dropped a bomb THROUGH THE ENTRANCE (right onto my face) of the sandbag bunker I was in.

But it was pretty much to late, I proved my theory that one sniper can change the course of a battle, because in that 5 minutes where a j10 was constantly strafing (btw the fact that this happened demstrates great teamwork on their part) one j10 and z10 being held down and 4 guys respawning and looking for me, my team took all flags except field and beach.

I diverted resources and generated five minutes where our f35bs and cobra could pwn the grond as if usmc had taken the field.

Agree with all your comments. In real life a single sniper can keep a company pinned down so why should it be any different in BF2.

Sometimes I for squads of only snipers and we defend a flag. If we stay spread out it's quite effective. I especially like doing this on the Mathur City (SP?) map hiding under the bridge. I take one end and another sniper takes the other end. We defend the flag for the entire map shooting at the same targets. Works well.

Snipers can be very effective if they wirk with the squads.

a medic or anti-tank about 96.33 (repeating of course)% of the time, are much more effective than a sniper.

Yea, but in experienced hands an assaults ALWAYS more effective than either.

All these this other kit usage that you guys claim to be supreme is debatable.

I have a VERY effective sniper tactic i just tried today.

If you can't destory the scan and keep it down (engineers, supply drop) then the commander will scan and spot you out or worse just arty you.
Here is a counter and the BEST way to snipe a flag.

Get a squad of at least 3 (you can do it with two but 3 is MUCH better with 3) four preferably, and have everyone except SL suicide, the SL gets in the jet and bails in a covered area at the target sniping area (airfields are the best)
the squad then spawns on the SL and they SPREAD OUT no two people should be in the same spot this way it would take 3 arty strikes to get you all and by that time youll have respawned.

everyone 20 seconds eveyrone switches postions by about 3-5 seconds of sprinting, if SL dies then he leaves the rejoins squad and suicicdes and spawns on the NEW sl, also everyone needs to plant both of their claymores and lure cqc targets into their blast area via bunnyhopping this really pisses off those guys that bunnyhop and sprint to get you and then have to dodge your pistol only to be killed by a clay. (supply drops are needed here)

This is EXTREMELY effective and can only be countered by arty, commander spotting and choppers ALL TOGETHER. the chinese (this was on daqing) got close to killing us all but SL was last left and we respawned, we stayed their the WHOLE round like 20 minutes, the choppers, arty j10 and su30 where attacking us until they got bored and left, then died, got shot out a few times before they could takeoff then came for us and the process went on, dont get me wrong, we had a total of about 20 deaths but when ever SL knew he would die he would leave then rejoin so he wouldn't have to suicide and we could get a new SL faster.

I plan on doing this with 6 snipers, if you would like to help then get fraps ready and pm me.
