well, if he doesnt play online, then how does he know how to recognise one straight away? or is this someone that uses the word "hack" instead of "i got owned"?

Yeah, no sh*t: you'll notice that when you're in a heli, going towards any vehicles, they always magically know "something" is coming and stop dead in their tracks, forcing you to relocate prior to another attack run.

I can't really do this explanation justice without further elaboration, but trust me on this... it's not normal and actually seriously detracts from the experience. There's other stuff, but I can't be bothered to type it up right now.

I f*cking hate being stuck playing singleplayer because of my connection latency. Sigh.

          Re: YOU make the case...

My god if you buddy things cheating is out of control in BF2 there's no hope for him.

Cheating has the least effect on players in BF2, the game can be so spread out and have other objectives then simply being quicker on the draw then other players, it's not funny. If you frequent the IO city 24/7 places it might seem a little over whelming if you not an FPS veteran. But even then the cheaters only have a slight edge.

Actually in any game an experienced player can almost hold his own with most cheaters. If you were both it would be highly unlikely. Most people willing to get that good at a game know that cheating only lessens the experience of gaming. These types of players rarely resort to cheating. You accept that some people are cheating and you'll might not beat them quite as often as other players. For the most part the cheaters aren't as good at gaming in general and that is the reason they cheat. With experience and dedication and the natural ability they don't have, it almost evens out.

            Re: YOU make the case...

Hi all. Actually I am the one Mystical is referring to. I have played online ALOT and know all the ins and outs of online play. I agree that I am competitive but if I am losing or I should say if my team is losing it is not a big deal at all (I do cuss and yell though, lol). My concern is that for some reason whenever I play online I ALWAYS run into issues. Example, last time I was online playing was on Mystical's server and he has every known hack, cheat, exploit, etc... locked down. I was assured there was nothing that could go wrong. NOT!! What I encountered was somone on my team was tk'ing me like crazy. I was like WTF so I then mentioned that he was tk'ing and to boot him. He said he was not tk'ing, Mystical was saying he was not tk'ing and that he was on their team. I took some screenshots and sure enough he looked like he was on my team but was not. So, after a few minutes the determination was made that it was a "glitch". Each team saw him as being on their team. This was very annoying to say the least and how are you supposed to play like that.......you cannot, well you can but why play when the game runs so poorly? This is just the tip of the iceberg for my experiences. I like sp so much due to the fact that I know how BF2 works inside and out. Ever get frustrated when you do a headshot from 50 meters away with a sniper rifle while playing online and no one dies......or pump 5-8 rounds into someones back and then they turn around and kill you with 1 shot from a pistol? These are just a couple of the issues I have. I decided instead of wading my way through all the online bs I would wade my way through all the internals of BF2 and learned what made it tick. I now have quite a few sp mods that are like playing against elite players online which makes your skill SO much better. There is no more run and gun or spray and pray. You have to use strategy just as you would online. I admit that coordinating with people vs bots is better anyday of the week but the advantages of sp in my eyes are tremendous. A few are, the AI is not just set a 1.0 all of the values ingame are modded as well. Fly over in a heli and you WILL get owned unless you can fly your *** off. Bots will shoot you with machine guns,anti-tank kits, use AA much more effectively so no more just hovering there machine gunning the bots to death or killing tanks or aa vehicles with a simple fly over. You do that and you WILL get shot down with incredible accuracy; I should know I set it up like that. You like to fly the planes you say and you think you are good with that joystick huh, these bots will stay with you no matter what rolls, dives, turns you pull. Remember that the AI is only as good as the one who writes or mods it. I am not saying you will get owned all the time but the increased difficulty over vanilla BF2 is insane; night and day difference. I also like being the sniper class and with vanilla BF2 long shots are just not possible. One to two hundred meter shots are possible but that is like shooting yourself in the foot...no challenge. I have opened levels up so you can get 800-1000 meter shots and so can the bots; still a work in progress. To do this there are SO many variables you have to take into consideration it isn't even funny. I guess I like the rewards that come from having my own mod that I did and the experience I had learning and from trial and error. At the end of the day I can add or take away anything I want. If I am tired of playing with the barrett I add in the type88,m95,dragonov,m24....etc. Tired of using the apache so I change it out with 7-8 different helos. Ever get tired of playing the same 10 or so maps you know so well you feel like you made them, I do. How many times can you play Karkand,Dalian Plant, etc. before they are TOTALLY played out. Some variety would be nice. That is another reason why I like sp so much. Over 175+ maps to do anything you want to with. The games functionality is not limited by what EA says and what they coded. The sky is the limit in sp. You all feel that when you get a badge, ribbon, rank up that is the ultimate reward and for you that may be true. For me it is no more than something to look at and say, "I spent 1,000 hours and got a .jpeg. The reward for me is knowing that if I want to fight my way through the jungle, mountains, city, ship, sub, sneak through 1/2 mile long underground tunnels and caverns, ride on the wing of an Apache, have missles that lock onto ground vehicles, take 800 meter sniper shots, use a Javelin to take out ground/air threats, ride as a passenger on a motorcycle and do a drive by on the bots, that is my reward. I realize you all like mp as do I but there are just some people like myself that enjoy sp much more. I am anxiously awaiting the release of Crysis and have to say the AI in that game is light years ahead of BF2 in ALL areas. The functionality of Crysis is insane......you can do almost anything you want. Graphics, editor, gameplay are all superior and I for one am going to jump in head first. I have gotten my hands on a pre-beta of sorts a few months ago and I was completely blown away 100%. I want in right away so I can see what makes this game tick and make my own levels,vehicles,weapons,mods,etc... and not be told by EA that these are the maps I have access to,I have to do this to get this, play this many hours to get a .jpeg, or accept poor coding and "deal" with all the online glitches so to speak. I will make my own path and when those 10 or so maps EA limited you to for mp get old I have 175+ sp maps with you name written all over them. Take care all and happy hunting.

^^ and you sir need to learn about this magic button called enter

i'm not even going to attempt to read that

but on topic, SP cant live up to MP. SP is playing a game against the game, it isn't the same, sure they know where you are just programmed to ignore you

@ dairuka: are you going to write a book titled 'Battlefield2: Dairukas philisophical ideas' ? as i think it would be an interesting and good read

That is actually an exceptionally rare glitch that has only been documented a dozen times or so. It doesn't have the same notoriety as the red-tag bug, due to it's obscurity. If this happened to you, I'd simply tell you the obvious; you're unlucky.

Clearly you know so much about BF2 and how it works, that you surely know about things like lagging hitboxes, bullet drop, bullet deviation, hit detection and ping/latency.

As for the 1 shot with a pistol? You're over-exaggerating. Even if he headshotted you with a pistol, it'd still require two headshots for a kill.

Indeed, after all the whining about players that cheat, you're now playing against bots that not only have near perfect accuracy, but automatically know where you are on the map at all times. The only reason they don't chase you down like an online cheater would, is because they're programmed to ignore you until you come into a certain range.

I did not understand the statement shown in bold. Proper sentence syntax, and grammar are required to efficiently convey a thought. Not to mention paragraphs... :|:

I fail to see the difference between a bastard with an aimbot instantly shooting at your helicopter from 400m away, and a wild pack of BF2 bots with an aimbot instantly shooting at your helicopter from 400m away. I fail to see how this makes you better, since you're not playing in a realistic situation. Your evasion skill is based on something that will never happen on a multiplayered game, and you're not preparing yourself for online nuances like hitbox detection.

Your TV missles'll go through their cockpit, while you're exposing your tail (Where a hitbox is typically found) in half-turn barrel rolls (Cheesy way to avoid everything on SP64 Mod.). Then you'll just blame your lack of preperation on BF2's faulty coding.

I don't get it. You previously complain about cheaters, and faulty coding, yet you praise faulty coded bots for cheating?

Remember that a player is only as good as his competition. If your only competition is a pre-programmed artificial intelligence, then you'll be grasping for excuses when you fail to perform against a human player. An AI can't improvise when it's put into a bad situation. An AI doesn't duck for cover, or use it's terrain to the fullest either. An AI doesn't move stealthily, and an AI doesn't actively watch the screen for Commander spotted enemies that're sneaking around.

You're playing against drones. Thats target practice at best.

There are plenty of experienced snipers who have invested thousands of hours into the sniper rifle alone, all of whom are more renowned and proficient than you, who would argue against the points you've made here. There are also a throng of programmers on these forums who would love to point out the faults regarding the skill involved with your, 'work in progress.'

Satisfaction can be found in any achievement. I personally care little for rank, and mock those who care too much. I do however enjoy looking at statistics graphs and viewing improvement in areas of the game that I do care about. Namely Infantry Weapon Kill/Death Ratio.

Your achievement is still only on pre-programmed bots. I would feel cheated to know that my competition is something that hasn't the capability of reflex, improvisation or original thought.

Obviously you don't have to on Single Playered. You don't have to either if you download the mods, since most are pretty lenient in their restrictions if they have any at all.

So far I've played in 22 maps with Vanilla BF2, and Special Forces. Thanks to online competition, playing on the same map is not as unbearable as you'd like us to believe. Rather, the gameplay changes very frequently. It becomes even less of a concern when you factor in changes in playstyle, kits, vehicles and teams.

                I like diversity as well.

Thats why I download and play the mods.

Right now there are probably 6 good mods out there that are still commonly played online. Each one has on the upwards of 5-10 maps each. Not to mention different guns, different vehicles, different character models...

Really, the only limiting factor regarding BF2's online play, is your play style. You'd like us to believe that the lack of challenge of online play is the reason you've quit, but if BF2's online competition was really so easy for you; you'd be a member of a world champion CAL-M clan right now. My guess is you're no where nearly as good as you'd like to think. Anyhow, you've only reinforced my original post in this thread. You probably can't stand losing, and you probably naturally assume that everybody who defeats you is exploiting or cheating.

Anyhow, my brain hurts from responding to your horrifically written post. Not only do you lack proper sentence syntax, paragraphs, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling... But your subjects, predicates and verbs are all mish mashed together making your points difficult to understand at best.

I will make this short and sweet. This is a game meant for fun and nothing more; so if I am not having fun then I do something else that is. All statements I made are legitimate and true. The glitch IS documented and I do have that type of luck with online play. You seem to think that BF2 causes me some mental anguish if I lose; not accurate. Also, that is NOT the reason I choose not to play online. I happen to like sp more and have more fun this way. Now as far as the condescending comments regarding my knowledge of BF2 lets just say I DO know what I am talking about. Too bad with ALL your insight you are nothing more than a waster that has pissed away countless hours (over 600) playing BF2 with nothing more to show for it than ummm, NOTHING!!!! You do realize that life is more than being a uber geek behind a computer typing out of his/her arse. You really should get a job with a tabloid because since Aug. of last year you have made over 1100 posts. Very nice.... if you are trying to win the totalbf2 poser, I mean poster award, lol. You questioned my intelligence as well so I have to mention this. Over 600 hours played and 1100 posts to this site and all you have to show for it is, ummm, once again, NOTHING!! Also, please stop pm'ing me as I am happily married and not into uber geeks that weigh in excess of 300lbs. Have fun in your cubicle and keep telling yourself there is someone out there who cares. Take care and remember to wash under the third roll on your stomach where you found the burger last time. You might get lucky and see your feet for the first time in years if you try hard enough. Plane trips to Canada are very short correct? Nevermind, I just answered my own question...oh wait.....am I smart enough to figure that out???? Well, ummm.....

just because someone has about 600+ hours playing BF2 doesn't make them a 'uber geek'. i play casually most nights if nothing else is happening, i gather that if you dont have anything planned you either play BF2 or watch TV, its all the same.

i myself have just under 800hours on BF2, does that mean i have no social life? no. i'm in my last year of school so i have more hten enough time to play, go out with mates and all those other things (nudge nudge wink wink)

and even if your comments weren't directed at me (seeing as i dont have 1,000 posts) i still find it offensive that you can openly insult the opposite side of a community that plays the MP (which is better then SP :p ), and make sterotypical comments that everyone that ever played a PC game is anti-social, and extremely obese, which is ironic for saying your name is bigmac

                              Sars, he was troll baiting.

Hes a tool, plain and simple. Most likely an anti-social one at that, since he hates online communities so much.
