    YOU make the case...

I often times browse these forums and see some good answers to questions and advice to other players. This time I need a bit of input and hope you guys can help.

I have a buddy who plays like BF2 as do I, the difference being I play the game online like most everyone here and he plays only single player. He likes the mods and lack of exploits that the single player brings. I like the teamwork and challenge the online play brings. I am from the camp that the online play makes you a better player as the opponents are thinking people, not bots. I also believe the ranking system, if you work on each kit to learn it and accomplish the goals from basic to expert make you a more well rounded, effective player.

My buddy's case is that with various techniques the bots can be groomed to be more aware and super accurate with various weaponery. His case for single player also includes that bots don't hack or cheat. A valid point, I must say. He also likes the fact that there are no weapon unlocks and players are allowed all weapons from the get go. He also has said the few times he has played online the hacking was out of control to the point where he could not play. With these items, he doesn't like the online play.

I want the folks here to help me highlight some of the pro versus con's arguments for play online versus single player. I searched the forums and didn't see anything like this thats revelant. Help me make the case, for him to take another look at online play. I think he would like it if he gave it a fair shake. Thanks for taking a look at this thread and helping me out.

I rarely encounter cheaters online. If your buddy never plays online, than he must have been very unlucky to find a server with so many "hackers". The pros of playing online far exceed the pros of offline play.
Teamwork, and the ability to communicate with real people is what makes online play so much fun.

        PROS for online play

No matter what game you play, Multiplayer will always make you better, while in Singleplayer, you can hone various techniques.

Say, CS for example. Throwing the bots on Expert won't make you any better, but you do have to react faster to get off those twitchy headshot kills. Whereas, an actual player will strafe if you give them the chance. I personally like playing against people far better than me and getting my *** handed to me over and over. Makes me react faster.

If he had never played online before, most players, at this point in time, have already mastered the basics of the game, whereas he has been stuck playing bots. When I first played online, I quit the game because I, also, accused people of hacking. When I got to college, my room mate and I played together, I started to understand how the game worked, and viola, I got better and better. I can go 80+ and 0 on Expert SP(I actually recorded myself on an entire round of SP with expert bots, simply running around and knifing the whole time), but I'd be hard pressed to get the same score(unless I was in a Jet or Helicopter and got the better of the other Pilots).

The last time I never died during a round, I was in an F-35 on Oman. It was like 8 on 8 on the 32 player map size. I was 35-0 with a low ticket ratio.

With any game there is, you have to play Multiplayer to get any good at it.

Anyway...I'm ranting and I gotta poop.

                Multiplayer
                • Unique
                • Every Match is different
                • Intersting & Unbelievable Strategies
                • Teamwork [in some servers]
                • BF2 is Multiplayer, it was made for multiplayer and will always be for multiplayer. If it was for Single-Player, then it would be an RPG where you can build up your character.
                Singleplayer
                • Predictable
                • Dull
                • Pushovers [they always listen to you]
                • You don't recieve the same satisfaction beating a comp than beating a real human player

He probably can't stand losing, and naturally assumes that everybody who beats him is exploiting or cheating.

if he's never played online, then theres no way he can spot a cheater (besides the obvious wall glitching). id say he was probably repeatedly killed by some good players and thought that no one could be that good. but theyve been practicing online which is much harder than single player and much different. The only thing single player is good for is target practice, and now that i think of it, it isnt any good for that either because the bots are so predictable.

theres also no ping, or lag on single player, so that makes it alot easier, and different

Bots don't hack...yeah right. Funny how they always know where i am...definitely no fog nametag hack with an aim bot x 2

Ah the singleplayer is ok I like to practice my heli on dragon from time to time but other then that I dont like it. The aim is to accurate its almost a head shot everytime and you cant get revived.

In single player, you get bots that walk in squads in formation and will pull their knives when they get within 3m of a flag. Don't believe me? Join their squad and trail behind them.
And as others have said, they have insane accuracy.

Online there are tons of good players, but they usually don't walk in squads in formation. That is extremely rare. Also, there is an over-reliance on prone-spamming and grenade-spamming. It's really two different games.

Think about Goldeneye for N64. Multiplayer and the actual game were so very different. Same thing here.

As to which will make you a better player? Well, which mode do you want to be better at?
