Yeah I mean, c'mon! Let's examine what a bot really is for a second... it's the damn computer playing the game! How can it not hack?

So they try to retroactively dumb down the bots so they aren't 'good' hackers unless you move the skill level way up.

So if your friend is worried about hackers... consider that every bot in singleplayer mode is just a dumbed-down hacker.

Seriously, there are tons of good players that get called hackers... but they aren't hacking.

Also, as long as your friend keeps playing SPM, he will never be skilled enough to hold his own against a flood of real players... he will always be upset and disappointed. Move him to the 'deep end of the pool' now or he will always be content to 'swim in the kiddy pool.'

Wow, you buddy must have run into a realy bad server.

I disagree with some comments above, karkand and jalalalalalalabad are good maps, just not every1 likes them.

        Pros

-Online gaming lets you play with friends.
        -You can unlock weapons.
-It sure feels good to humiliate some1 with shock-paddles!
-He isn't up against something that knows exactly where you are and will shoot at you once in visual contact...at 200m and doesn't miss.
-lots more to come...but I'm kinda lazy now.

        Cons

-There might be some people hacking or cheating on the server he is playing.
-Small maps are more fun, and not many play them on mulltiplayer.
-You can play Zatar wetlands, with some1 (something=a bot).
-DICE ruined the F35B, so in single player he own't face J10s. OR other uber 1337 plane (I mean everything is über 1337 to the F35B because it wwas nerfed big time).

My 5 year old plays single player and pwns.
I let him go online and he gets crushed.
So now when he plays he says "put it on easy mode"...singleplayer he means.

5 yr old, singleplayer, calls it easy mode...nuff said.

Yes it can be frustrating when more than 2 or 3 players are cheating.

Stay away from any 24/7 map. Play maps that rotate every round or every other round.

Go on the 16 player or 32 player maps. Cheaters like the long rounds you get with 64 size maps so they play those more often.

Go on P&K servers. Cheaters don't usually go there.

If you find servers with active admin's add it to your favorites. Cheaters don't like admins.

Cheaters can be avoided or dealt with as long as they are not in a jet or chopper. Most cheaters suck so if you get good enough they can be beat.

The cheating in BF2 is pretty bad but a lot of them get caught eventually and the game is still playable if you take steps to avoid them.

Ignore all flamers who say "there are no cheaters, you just suck" they are the ones who cheat or they are just too stupid to realize when their enemey has enhancments.

If there are 2 or 3 players cheating on a server, then you need to hightail it off of that server immediately. It's rare that there is even one single cheater on a server, so the odds that there are multiples are staggeringly high. The only exception is a clan server that promotes cheating.

Good advice no matter how you look at it, if you load maps fast.

The rounds are the same regardless of the map size due to ticket ratios matching the map size.

You're thinking of "High Points" servers, where the server is set up with 16 or 32 players maximum, with a 64 playered map. They're generally frowned upon, although no longer illegal due to the ROE's support being dropped.

Even if the BFROE and their ROE are no longer supported by EA, this is still against EA's Terms of Service, and can get you reset if you get caught.

You don't need to be a cheater to not like certain admins.

As good as I like to think I am, against a cheater, there is nothing I can do but switch teams, follow him around and take screenshots/fraps videos. I'd love to brag that I can out-wit an aimbot with random deviation; but the moment that person picks up an SVD, I'm switching teams to report the bastard.

They get caught if people do something about it.

Switch to their team, and give up a round or two to garner proof.

Sadly, you do fit in well with my original comment in this thread.

Cheaters are not as common as people like to pretend they are.

Often a 'cheater' and a 'good player' are misconstrued for one another, this is often a self-defense mechanism for the mind's ego, deluding people into believing that they are so good at the game, that there could in no possible way be anybody better than them.

Hence why I say that some people can't stand losing, and are quick to believe that the other person is hacking should they ever be beaten.

This rationale is actually a reasoning for some hackers to hack. They believe that people who've beaten them fairly are hacking; thus they can delude themselves into righteously 'leveling the playing field.'

He also likes the fact that there are no weapon unlocks and players are allowed all weapons from the get go. He also has said the few times he has played online the hacking was out of control to the point where he could not play. With these items, he doesn't like the online play.
Sounds like your buddy has a case of total noob syndrome, in which he thinks everyone online cheats since he is so bad. Tell him to play vs people with skill and he will get better, and have a lot of fun at the same time. I don't see how anyone could keep killing bots, it must get boring after some point.

I will tell you why MP is better then SP. Because all I had for twenty plus years was SP. When I found online MP (a little late with Socom II for PS2 and CS before BFV/BF2) I will NEVER EVER play a single player game again. There is no comparison. Like night and day. I have had BF2 since the day it came out and not one single solitary time have I played single player. I tried it in BFV and the bots were so dumb it was silly. There is an end to SP, there is no end to MP. Not so much in BF2 but I am sure you can master the bots but there will always be someone better online that will challenge you in new ways that never gets old.

I would like to add this. To the OP. Just let your buddy play an online game, then you play a single player game. See who gets a higher score and that should prove to him the SP is not where it is at. I might just start a single player game right now to see how I do. :)

Single player mode really isn't a challenge because it is so predictable. Even on Expert AI, the bots do the same things because that's how its programmed. I'm an average (at best) player in MP with just over a 1/1 K/D ratio and it's easy for me on SP to have a 10 or 15 to 1 K/D ratio. One of the few saving graces for me for SP mode is that if you want a knife fight, the bots will accommodate rather than cheap shot you.
