There should be a server entitled "Helo School." Where all the noobs can go to get all the lessons they want from good volunteers. Maybe if this was ranked somehow it would work and take of. Lets face it none will play singleplayer, and besides singleplayer is nothing like online. The missile is completly different.

Hey I'll gun for any helo pilot anyday just look me up. I need both my helo ribbons (Vanilla and SF). I am wicked with the TV missle too (as long as u pilots keep the damn nose right. Too many pilots keep the screen so they can see fine but us gunners can get the TV missle off or fire our guns properly because you pilots want the nice view. Some one did a nice schematic of the view from helo pilot and view from gunner, they are actually quite different, so if you want to help your gunners get better you have to fly for them to get the shots off!

Okay that said, if you see me on a server grab me and I will gun for you. I have been pounding the ground for 700 hours, and need to start getting some air time in.

I know what you mean, but my solution is also teaching. In case of helpless gunner, I'll take a jet or go on foot. I really hate soloers
How can people learn if they can't have practise in real game?

About the FUN mentioned before. For all players having fun, no freeriders can be allowed. Every player has the same right to play in the copter or what ever vehicle available. Sorry bros, but there is not a copter marked with Sloi or Dairuka only. If you don't want to play with some fellow, leave the server or do something else, take a jet, no problem with lousy gunner :)
What is the worth of victory for your team if you have pissed them off by redlining most of them? Zero! Claiming to do it for the team is just pure egoism imo.

On board the copter, I mostly play as a pilot cause I'm not that good gunner, and I promise you, it won't take long for my gunner make hits and to learn basics with the TV (if he speaks Finnish or English)

Last night I had some time and I got totally noob gunner on board. For the first 5 minutes I took him 20 meters from the target before offering him a view to shoot, later I increased the distance and what happened? The fellow started to get hits and then again more hits. I had fun with getting out of the tricky situations caused by the misses he made. But then again I'm really good pilot because I've had those tricky situations a lot. They dropped us three times during that round. I can live with it.

Re: The Truth Behind the Lack of Good Gunners

People against soloing fail to realize the attack helicopter is a unique weapon in game, the only one that forces you to rely on your partner. If there are two people in it, both of them must know what they are doing.

Thus, if you have a skill deprived pilot or gunner with you, and you do have skill that is being wasted, you WILL be frustrated. People stating otherwise lack experience in choppers.

So, if you don't have more than 50 hours in attack helos, and a good KDR (>3, only expection if you are a pilot and have lots of driver points), don't even start.

i'm slowly getting better as a gunner and it's all because i have had the fortune of being able to practice with some very impressive (and patient!) pilots....So, to all those who help us improvers, Thank-you!

i think youll find the reason why new players arent any good in the heli is because its the giimps like you that solo and dont let them have that chance to learn

ya so i dont get why ppl say the fun is in the win.....ive played some rounds that ended with the win, and it was too quick and NO FUN AT ALL......the fun is in the playing the game for the win, not the win itself....the game is over at that point, and so is the fun for that round....so if u lose, you should be able to have fun too....

so pull your head out of your assss the team can still have fun if you dont take the chopper for yourself TKing and redlining whoever you hafta to whore it all round BY YOUSELF

Uuuuuuuuuuuuh.......OK. My point was intended to be teaching an inexperienced gunner rather than giving up and just soloing. May I suggest some anger management classes?

There's single player mode for a reason. And videos and guides etc to teach people how to fly all over the internet, yet no one uses them and they think they are awesome at flying because they can go low and fast....

I solo in situations, and gladly do so. However I can understand why some people would prefer to solo over even attempting to take in a random gunner.

They can practice. The same way I practiced. Underpopulated servers, Single Player Mods and Unranked servers. Why are you people making a big deal about this, when there are blatantly obvious alternatives?

Indeed, every player is playing for fun. We all compete, and we all love to work as a team. However, when one player disturbs this cycle, we all become frustrated at this new gaping hole in the game, where fun used to be. This is a situation that is rectified by leaving the useless gunner in the helicopter to fend for himself (Or ruin another pilot's day), or by doing one of the more demonic remedies.

The only problem is that everybody wants to be a gunner for a helicopter, because they believe it to be easy points for little effort. These are the same people who machine gun a tank and wonder why it's not blowing up, because the only helicopter experience they have is Sharqui whoring. This lack of experience is commonplace among the majority of gunners.

While most of us will give a gunner a chance before judging, you can't expect us to teach them all. Even the ones who are unwilling to learn? Thats where the fun dies down, and the need for my aforementioned remedies becomes most alluring.

You don't piss off a team. You piss off one person.

Redlining is an underhanded tactic that I don't support.

Thats assuming he joins your squad, reads the team chat, or communicates with you in VOIP. That is a requirement for somebody to be a gunner with me, thats why I always make a squad when I solo, so that somebody can Join My Squad and spawn on me.

Congratulations. I've had many success stories myself in my meager 50 hours of experience, but I could tell you 200 horror stories about pathetic gunners, mentally inept pilots, and the TV-missle that fired like a RPG for every 1 success story that I've had.

You speak as if many people who support solo'ing have never tried.

The fact of the matter is. There are hundreds of thousands of people who play BF2. Most of them are newbies in a sense of the word. Are you honestly going to teach every single one that jumps into your helicopter, forcing you to suffer 1:20 K/D ratios on an hourly basis, while your team constantly gets itself baseraped by the enemy helicopter simply because those foolish individuals who jump into your gunner seat still haven't even grasped the basics of right clicking to bring up the TV-missle screen? :|:

I give advice all the time. I'm very open about my methods, and my secrets, but I'm not playing BF2 to teach other people the absolute basics in game when they should already know the basics. Thats not fun for me.

I just like to say one thing. When people say "its just a game, take the newbies abroad", your pretty much saying, who cares its a game right? Well you can turn that around and say "its just a game, do you absolutely have to fly?"

Honestly im not the type of person that would tk someone for a jet. I would never ever even think of it. Its stupid, your just promoting it even more if you do. I don't do stuff that i wouldn't like to have done to me.

                                ok 2 things.
