    sniper appreciation thread

nobody seems to like snipers lol, when i play nobody is really a sniper I think it's one of the most important classes, for example my squad buddies were running into suicide but I saved all their lives when I L96'ed 4 mec guys waiting to ambush them

I think in most circumstances it's one of the most useless kits, but unfortunately the most fun as well (for me)

You do have to love it when you really honestly help out your team though. Like when a couple guys try to steal a flag behind your lines, but you see them and take them out when nobody else is in sight, or when you take out that fool in the mounted gun who is pinning a bunch of your teammates down.

Of course, in almost every situation most other kits would be more helpful than a sniper IMO... I'm curious as to why you think it's one of the most important to winning a match?

I almost always snipe, I enjoy when I take an enemy down as they are sneaking up on one of my teammates, it's not the first time I have gotten thanks for cappin some1 .

I also like when you get a really good place or you fire over some1s shoulder and the turn round firing lol, gets me everytime:laugh:

I can see skill if sniper can take me down when i charge at him or kill me with pistol. That and actual sniping itself is OK. Problem is that people hate those cheap shot kills by claymores. Away from combat just walk into one of those. It is frustrating and to some point lame, especially when snipers put those, right in front spawn point. That is happening more and more.
Sniper class had very little to add to teamwork so it is lowest class of all in this game.

So the amount of teamwork is based on what Kit/Class one plays? Interesting ... Do you also believe in leprechauns and fairies?

It's honestly easier to kill people when they charge at you, and I get pistol kills all the time at close/medium range since 1 sniper shot + whip out the pistol and pop them once = a kill. Much better than trying to land 2 sniper shots at close range.

What really takes skill with sniping is those 250m+ shots. Or maybe I'm just better and the up-close fighting because I come from a CS background and I'm used to AWPing people in the face from relatively close

I think snipers really can add a lot to the team if they roll with a squad and stay relatively close to the action. You can help tremendously by picking off enemy snipers, slowing down enemies trying to come to the defense of a flag you've just taken by pegging them while they're 100m off and making a run to the flag. It's also pretty easy to snipe in mid/close range because you don't have to lead as much, worry about bullet drop or deviation.

I find I contribute a decent amount to a squad if I lag behind a little bit and lay down cover fire, take out gun placements, other snipers, spot people that are hiding that people in the middle of the fight won't be able to see, etc.

I still think that any of the other kits are much more useful most of the time, but if played correctly a sniper can contribute a lot as well and isn't utterly useless as far as teamwork goes. It's a pretty thankless job though, because if you're doing your job well nobody will ever notice

I love sniping. When I play any game, I take the kit seriously, if there's one bit of un-realism, I get bored right away. Sniping is a professional job, if you do it right.

                  Snipers are fine.

But not when there is 10+ of them per team, which is the norm for most every vBF2 server.

I also particularily dislike people who have 'Sniper' in their name, and who exclusively play the kit.

I hate people who have Gara in their name and people who are bald..... what does that have to do with anything? (Nothing) Why do you dislike them? It is a stupid predjudice, I assume you hate people of other races too?

                        .

Just an observation that most people who have 'sniper' somewhere in their name usually limit themselves to that kit exclusively.

That is a very silly assumption.

I also think it is a very important asset to the team... and sometimes a liability.

On large maps with many players Snipers can prove to be a valuable asset by picking off those sneaking behind enemy lines, on the other hand, in small maps or maps with few players, both the Sniper will have a hard time & be pulling the team down. Those Claymores can be quite powerful indeed
