Aviatus Completus: the complete guide to dogfighting

Pictures too small? Click them for full sized version

If I made mistakes, if you don't understand something, or if you still don't know something then please, please ask!

This is the beta-version of my dogfighting guide that I posted at BF2s. It's not entirely finished yet, but will be soon. I'll also edit the backgrounds so it fits TBF2 nicer, and finally I have videos in the pipeline to further explain some things

This is an excellent guide, but mostly for people just getting into dogfighting. I enjoyed reading it, and even stored it on my HDD. Well done.

Looks awesome, I can't wait to read it! (I can't take up too much bandwidth downloading all those pictures at work or they might think I'm looking at porn or something )

One nit picky thing - it should be "know thy enemy" not "thou enemy" on the first page. Aside from that it looks great, I can't wait to read

        awesome tut, thanks
I suck at dogfighting and stay out of jets as much as possible, but since I need 50 hours for Vet for a future promo I do get in them from time to time, this will help alot thanks

btw any way you can do something like this for bombing, I know I know....anybody can drop bombs, but I see some guys continually drop a single bomb and take out a tank EVERY time, I on the other hand fly over an enemy tank, drop 2 bombs, kill 1 enemy infantry, 3-4 teammates and the tank doenst have a scratch
so how do you aim a bomb, or how do you know WHEN to release the bombs to be more accurate, there was a guy on Wake the other night and you would constantly see him getting 4-5 kills at a time and I dont think he ever missed a tank

Only thing I will say is completely wrong, is the F-18's afterburner..

You put it for 2nd place and said it had a long timer.. well that is probably the F-18's weakest point. It has really weak afterburners and a short timer.

And you put F-18 dodging above J-10?.. seriously...

The only time the F-18 dodges missles is when it's doing an inverted loop. The J-10 dodges missles just flying around..

very nice, helped me out a lot. Very clear and the pictures are perfect, thanks. The looks of it makes you want to read it, it doesnt look boring

I've never seen this, but how come nobody every mentions anything about using their rudder when circling? is it just common sense or is it unknown? I always use my rudder when circling, it kinda corners the plane out and i *think* it makes the plane turn sharper (learned from all those fun days on Crimson Skies). I always see other planes turning normally, but mine is always lobsided.

                              Metallica do you use it???
