I know theres probably a lot of posts about whats next for the BF franchise but I a little thought earlier. BF2 has been great to me. I have a little under 200k in pts and I've loved every minute of the game, even through all those times i ctd. However, lately I've been really really hurting for some new games, Bf2 is just growing old, despite its awesome graphics and gameplay, its just not as fun as it used to be. So I've actually been really interested to see what EA is cooking up next for the BF franchise. I am one of those who believe the ww2 games are not dead, people are just sick of killing Germans most of the time.
Well BF3 will obviously be DX10 capable so we can expect a lot more out of graphics. I'm hoping that they will take a game like Crysis, with its dense jungles and try to incorporate it into a battlefield game. What I would really really love to see would be BF3: Pacific Theater. Focusing on maps such as Iwo Jima, Guam, Midway, Pearl Harbor, Coral Sea, and of course Wake Island etc.
I know that 1942 had some of these maps but I'd like to see them on a heavily upgraded scale. Take the Crysis feel and add it to the game. Like Wake Island in BF2 has like 20 trees and you can walk from one side of the island in just a few moments. BF3 Wake Island would have a thousand trees, think brush and weeds like Crysis, plus be on a larger scale. Bring back the submarines and the naval warfare, increase map size and player count from 64 to 150. Instead of capping "flags" you could cap "zones" which is more of a plot of land rather than a small flag. Capping could be determined by the ratio of troops that your team has within that zone. I've been hoping for a Pacific game with some really nice graphics for a while, however most of the community thinks the ww2 games are dead. NONSENSE!
I could go on all day about some ideas but I'm sure you guys have some pretty good ones as well. But we need something new instead of the same old stuff with better graphics. I don't know how much longer I can hold out for a new fps!
