I think every one stat pads. People would play this game differently if there wasn't a ranking system, it impacts the way you play... it really actually isn't about team play... it's about your stats... and that's how most people see it I think.
Speak for yourself.
Other then it being a passing thought to get unlocks when I first started playing, padding and my stats haven't been anything I've been concerned with since.
Not for me, nor for most of the people I play with. Maybe having a good round or medal round is nice, but after that I could care less.

adding the stat system was ingenius. it gets player emotionaly attached to their characters making leaving the game more difficult.
It is a stroke of marketing genius. Track stats, create a central place for collection, assign an arbitrary set of points and benchmarks for badges, ribbons and unlocks and viola you've got an entirely alternate motivation for playing the game.
With very little additional programing an entire segment of the demographic has another reason to play or keep playing.
Its not for the points man. I'm an imaginary Major General, points are even less fun to get then they were when I had just got the game. I'm simply saying that I and the other guys I mentioned have had a pretty much complete BF2 experience and when we decide its enough, we think it would be entertaining to do that and then see if anything is done about it (remember I said that we will be reporting each other). If anything this is just going to show what an utter joke the stats system is. This is going to be opening to everyone and we may do some advertising when it gets closer.....if by chance anyone would want to say goodbye to BF2 with us then look for more info sometime in late March with a date sometime in April.
hmmm, I've been getting pretty tired of the cheaters and accusers, maybe I'll join you guys....it'd be a good way to get the *BS* off of my name
I was playing the other day and these guys where stat padding, then one of the guys in my squad said "I wouldn't mind stat padding myself, i play for the fun of it so why not just get all the unlocks now?"
i told him no because you suck fun out of the game but for a moment i was thinking about saying yes.
has this same temptation followed anyone else here as well?
Nope. I just played the game as I usually do.. To win and to have fun. Now I have all my unlocks and I never stat padded once.
But I'm not taking any kind of 'moral high-ground' on this matter. If someone wants to stat-pad to get their points up to get all their unlocks, then that is up to them. So if people want to stat-pad, I don't care. They'll rank up to get their unlocks, and hopefully go from there to start enjoying the game.
As far as I'm concerned, once I pay $69.99 for a game, I think I should have all my unlocks right away. Forcing customers to play long hours just to have features they've paid for, is horse****, and hopefully not a new trend in game development.
I know Ill pad for expert engi.
Its to much of a pain, Ill just tip a vod.
20 repair points..I play full hour long rounds and cant break 15.
invite an APC whore to your squad, leave squad and rejoin so he is squad lead, sit in apc as engineer and get out whenever he takes damage even in the middle of a fight, hell LOVE you and if you get out and he is blown away, heel come pick u up when he respawns

Yeah, eddy you post way too many threads. They make no sense either.
step 2 about 7-9 posters ignore the first OT post until some random guy brings it up again, which is then promptly ignored as well.
some how in all my random threads o seem to get 3+ pages one ach one, you complain but you post in them nonetheless.ive got you
i have all the badges and never once stat padded as you can tell by my stats, stat padding defies the purpose of the game. why would you stat pad to get some new rifle to kill fictional people with? thats insaine!
After having every single unlock, I find that I only use one of them now, and that is the DAO or maybe MP-5...depending on the situation. I know I could pad the hell out of my account. I have been eligible for a lot of badges for a long time. I think I have been eligible for my Expert Repair and Expert Engineer since March of last year.
I love stats...I really do. But what I take out of stats are not the badge, but more the statiscal movements of my accuracy and K/D ratios on weapons. I judge my own performance off of how certain variables change. Why pad? That totally screws up what I am trying to actually know?
Padding would be like working out at the gym, and to know what your progress is, you go home and stand on the scale with a dumbbell in your hand.
Unlocks are not that great. Unless you are playing an army that just has crappy weapons...that said, I have never gotten my Peoples' Star because I don't play chinese or go AFK on Wake.
I'll get my Expert Pistol some day someone pisses me off on a server and just to prove a point that I am a vicious mutha****er, I will gut everyone with the knife and pistol.
Whats the point though really? All your going to do is make some number on some website get bigger and maybe a little jpeg image apear! Wow and acheivement.
Not true. Im not a stat padder myself, but I admit I have been tempted. I understand where the poster of this topic is comming from (i think). Personally, I could care less about the numbers that come up. The only reason I think about stat padding is the reason mentioned in the topic. The guy said he plays the game for fun, so why not have the unlocks now. I hate the fact that I have to farm points for hours and hours now just to get 1 gun unlocked. I dont how big or small the numbers are on any website. I just wish I could get the guns unlocked so I could have a more fun and diverse playing experience.
Im about to contradict myself here, but it makes sense lol. I said I didnt care about the numbers but I actually do. I care that the numbers on my account are ACCURATE to how I play just because I enjoy seeing my hit percent, k'd ration, stuff like that (even if their low). For me its not bragging rights, I just find it fun to look at stuff like that. Ive had the same account since BF2 came out, and I think its cool to see how many bullets Ive fired since then for some reason lol. Thats one of the reasons I dont stat pad. Because if I did, then those numbers would then become meaningless. Its not a reflection of anything at all once you start stat padding.
Yeah, your gaming outlook really changes when you hit that 50k point. And then when you get that Gold Bar, it changes again. Because once your an officer, if you are on the side that is winning, people start to say the side is stacked.
Your right though, there are plenty of times I have taken 'advantage' of a stituation. I would discriminate that it is not padding, but more choosing that I can actually pistol whip someone if I wanted to. Or, hey, if I am driving a jeep fast through Fushee and it gets banged up, I might jump in the back a repair it.
I will not spend an hour out in the middle of the bay repairing my vodnik. I have driven out there a few times and pushed padders deeper back though
I wasn't speaking for myself, I don't care about stats and you'll see that if you look at mine.
My point was, if you care, that people would play this game alot differently if stats/rank weren't involved. Thus when I hear the term 'stat pad', I can think of a wide range of activities a player goes through in order to preserve or expand upon his little numbers.
I realize the connotations the phrase brings with it so I understand how you missed my point.
