Aren't we all tempted to stat pad?

I was playing the other day and these guys where stat padding, then one of the guys in my squad said "I wouldn't mind stat padding myself, i play for the fun of it so why not just get all the unlocks now?"

i told him no because you suck fun out of the game but for a moment i was thinking about saying yes.

has this same temptation followed anyone else here as well? or do i just suck?

I'm not going to say you suck, but stat padding is for LOSERS.

Whats the point though really? All your going to do is make some number on some website get bigger and maybe a little jpeg image apear! Wow and acheivement.

I don't think theres a single BF2 player who hasn't atleast broken one ROE rule, though most dont realise it. Many rules are also open to interpretation, like playing on a 64 map with only 16 players etc..

But in answer to your question, i have never been tempted to stat pad...

Tempted: yes. But then again... what really is stat padding?

Repairing vehicles, such as buggies, that have been damaged by bomb or artillery? Driving through rough terrain and repairing the vehicle? Playing an entire round of IO with just the shock paddles out?

It's very ambiguous. Some things are okay in normal game play, but if you do them too much, they become stat padding.

Regardless, why would I intentionally stat pad? For unlocks? LOL. To gain rank? LOL.

anytime you want to stat pad, just play IO. its legalized stat padding.

Re: Aren't we all tempted to stat pad?

I think I thought about the first week I played BF2 because of the unlocks. My initial impression of the points/unlock system was "who cares" I just want the unlocks so I can compete. But I noticed all the "bru ha ha" over padding throwing off other people's fun so I restrained from doing it.

Then points started to come quickly after I got my feet wet, and the first unlock I got wasn't anything spectacular, so I've never thought about it since.

I went for my basic pistol badge and it felt stupid trying to achieve something in the game that wasn't very relevant to the "big picture". I got the it, and that was the last badge I ever tried to get.

From then on I've had few issues with the game, where points/rank/badges are concerned. Continually judging your play as an individual or against some one else with all the issues that surround stats, it just plain aggravating. It's far more satisfying for me to just look at the score and try and do something to win the round, keep a lead, or close a ticket gap. When the game's over and you did your best, you wipe the slate clean and start again.

What you guys need to do is stop whining about the stat system. It is there, and it will not be removed. So either love it or leave it.

adding the stat system was ingenius. it gets player emotionaly attached to their characters making leaving the game more difficult.

That was the original idea. And it's going to get popular once game producers understand it and start using it properly :)

An old friend on mine from a clan I was in awhile back runs a ranked server that no one (for the most part) except he and his friends use (I'm not saying the name). Anyway he and several other people we both know are getting pretty sick of BF2 (not the bugs or other problems, but after a year and a half of playing in pubs, and matches it gets old). 5 of us have decided that when we just can't play another round; we will meet on their server and stat pad. By that, I mean 10,000 points in a round. Round after round for like a day. I don't know if it has been done or if it can be done but we will try. After that we will report ourselves. I want at least 70,00 in a day....if they don't reset for that I don't know what it would take. This is pretty much the only part of BF2 that I haven't tried in anyway so its only fitting that I get a shot at it before I stop playing for good.
