    that is true.
properly doing this would have eliminated the boost from prone and hit detection while flopping.

But with what we do have as the game we were presented the "nerfs" were answers to a ludacris looking playfield.

Ive spent well over 500 hours on kark since launch and have seen every new tactic pulled in infantry combat...yeah the nerfs have dulled some aspects of what the game could have been, and this is do to improper methods of fixing them...but imagine how much worse it could be..
People complain about nades and clays being chucked everywere non-stop..
now add in armies of guys buncing down the street on there bellys with
36E's...assualt guys bouncing by you shooting GLs at your feet..C4 flying 30 feet down the street..It would basically come down to pick which class you wanna do in cool trick with.
Add in the mass nading and clay spam of today and any form of infantry battles would be a sham.

yup they spoilt the game by catering for whiners. the movement used to be good and you were able to stand up when you wanted to, now you have huge pauses when changing stances. they werent wrong to fix the dolphin diving (where people were jumping around while laying horizontal), but they did it in such a way where it affected everyone elses movement.

the n00bs got what they wanted thou, other players were literally frozen on the spot and unabled to get up and run away. Ofc they were like "yea youve got 100 pounds of equipment, you shouldnt be able to stand up right away", but if you try it yourself by getting on the floor and trying to get up as fast as you can, you can easily get up far far faster than the game is limiting you to. as for jumping and shooting, there was almost no accuracy when doing that, you only got a kill when right next to a player and jumping up and spraying a whole clip into them, do it from a distance and you wouldnt kill them and likely wouldnt even hit them. the n00bs again said, "you cant jump and shoot in real life" which isnt true, you are able to jump and shoot and have poor accuracy, just like you had in the game. but they couldnt aim at anyone that wasnt standing still, so.... they whined.....

your much better off in a vehicle now, so you dont have to put up with these daft restrictions.

I`m glad that they removed dolphin-diving and all that crap. Not because I got killed by ppl using them, cause it looked retarded,

I used those tactics myself- had all sorts of macros to annoy the s*it out of ppl and screw the hitboxes up.
But it just looked so ridiculous when you saw people flop around like fishes every time they encountered an enemy.

If they wouldn`t have patched dolphin-diving and bunnyhopping, I would most certainly still be using macros.

If I want bunnyhopping and all that goes with it, then I go play quake 2 (classic) or ut2004.

Funny thing is- BF2 is an ARCADE game, thus its in the SAME class as Quake and UT. Whats even funnier is- UT for example needs TONS of more play skill than BF2 ever did.

Battlefield indeed did look ridiculous, but it looks the same way today. I vote for well thought out nerfs, not the kind of nerfs that make you feel as if you were stuck in a mud and the gameplay feels slow and non fluid.

Even tactical simulators feel more fluid and more fun.

Re: Now i feel the pain of the nerf

I kind of like the nerfs (don't yell yet)

Clunky movement pisses me off, but sweet part of the deal is that you actually have reason to crouch now. What I mean is, that before, the best choice was always to prone (and before that, jump and prone) - there really weren't too many choices to make in combat, because correct answer to everything was to do the same moves every time.

I mean, if one move is absolutely superior to all others, gameplay isn't really any different if all stances were removed altogether.. if everybody does the move anyway, they're on equal footing - you just wouldn't have to press the same buttons over and over again in latter case

Obviously, there probably was a way to fix all this and still keep the movement fluid, but way they nerfed it was simplest, and probably safest.

Removing shooting while jumping was absolutely crap though

Exactly. Quake III Arena, UT, etc... ridiculous, they are so fast, reflexes, hand eye coordination are taken to the limit. Rainbow Six Vegas, a game I have been playing a little lately rocks. It is a ton more fluid than infantry in BF2, and imagine bullets go where you point.

All they had to do to "fix" dolohin diving was to make prone = false while in the air, that's it. To "fix" the noobtube, just make an arming distance, no need to have it weakened, or bouncing all over. Want to "fix" C4 chucking? Just limit the distance it could be thrown as they did in the last patch. No need whatsoever to remove the ability to jump and shoot, or add pauses to movement. But alas, the whining masses pushed underpaid bad coders to rape the game. Funny thing is, of all the players I know that used to C4 chuck and dolphin dive, not a single one of them became a worse player. As a matter of fact, if anything, they kill more enemy since simple evasion tactics are now gone, the noobs are even more of a sitting duck. Some people like to say "just take cover and return fire" yea, ok, that's a great idea in a game that you can get shot around corners, grenade spammed, get clipped through walls.

And a little tip for some of you guys, strafing side to side has even more of an effect than dolphin diving usually did, as far as hitboxes lagging forward or behind a player. I can't count how many times I have come around a corner to find three or more enemy and simply hit A and laid into them all.

Oh, I thought it was about war and guns and ****. Didn't see the evolutionary biology in the game, I must be too low a rank or something.

I think the prone/dolphin diving fix had good intentions, but it was not fixed properly. Most of the other "fixes" were backwards in terms of game play. To fix the shooting while jumping, they could have just added a bigger deviation mod to the bullets.

I think CTRL is the new Z.

From what ive heard, there is now a big delay between dives, and you can't shoot while airborne anymore. Im at the point now that these handicaps are limiting my ability to get better. Yeah i can crouch to avoid the delay, but it just isnt the same. How could EA be so stupid? they even said they like to make battlefield a game where skill stands out. Now when i dive to kill someone, im guaranteed dead by the time i get up (karkand). Why, in hell, did EA NERF INFANTRY ABILITY, come on. I guess i've reached my peak, i mean i get first if i put my head into a round almost every time. But i know i could be even better if my soldier wasnt so limited in abilities. I guess EA Did it because of complainers. Thats just not fair. Your a newbie so you suck, your a veteran so your good, your an expert so your good. DOESNT MAKE SENSE. By the time i get to general (if) i bet my skill wont increase one bit.

also i got a Q about io, i heard that health is increased, anyone know exactly how many bullets it takes to kill now? ie g36e is normally 4(NA)-6(A)
Learn to adapt, your lack of improvement is based on your dependence on moves like dolphin-diving, firing while jumping, and other silly moves that I am glad were removed from the game.

I just wish that they had also added the delay from standing/crouch to prone as well, because that's where it needs it the most - dive->proners are getting an accuracy bonus they don't deserve currently.

Try lugging around a huge sniper rifle, or heavy semi-stationary machine gun then diving with it and getting off a shot while doing so... Not gonna happen. You'd probably break your ribs or face hitting the weapon as you went down with it..

As far as 'nerfs' are concerned, don't blame the players or call them 'noobs' or 'whiners'. Like most players, they want the game to improve - blame the developer for being a retard and not taking the time, or beta-testing, to make the game it could have been.

You obviously didn't try it with Interceptor body armor with front and back SAPI plates in it. And your k-pot. And all kinds of ammo, food, and water. And an assault rifle.

The armor with plates alone makes getting up a biatch! I feel like a damned turtle every time I have to get up from prone.

I have played the Rainbow Six series from the start and Swat 3/4(more of a simulation if you like) and I am an excellent slow and steady shooter. I am always at the top in Swat 4 with 20-30 kills and 5-10 deaths a round. I hit what I shoot.
Now I decide to try a run and gun game and BF2 was the most popular and had some nice features like squads and teamwork ability.
Then I find out about the random cone of fire and the hitboxes. Everything else I could handle. It's a game, I'm not going to freak over some hopping and diving, but not hitting what I aim at is THE MOST frustrating part of this game. For all the skill in the world won't save you from that random bullet to the head when he's sprayin' and prayin' at you. This game had great promise but that randomness screws it for us who are steady and accurate. You shouldn't be sniping(like I do) with a PKM. 2-3 shots should bring anyone down regardless of armour(unless small caliber round like 9mm). In Swat 4 it will take a few shots with very small caliber rounds, especially if they are in the heavy armour but 1,2 or 3 well placed shots brings anyone down.
